Benjamin Grimm

That doesn't sound very appealing.

He may not be ready for Flushing, but is it too early to ask if he's ready for Syracuse?

I think the win should be at the discretion of the official scorer. If a pitcher goes eight scoreless innings, then a reliever allows the game to be tied in top of the ninth but the home team walks off with the win in the bottom of the inning, the win should go to the starter.

That really is weird. It looks like Bob Chicago put his jersey on backwards.

Yeah, there are a lot of guys who thrived after leaving the Mets. The big name here is, of course, Nolan Ryan. But after Mike Scott, the next name I think of is Amos Otis.

And the buzz was that he'd never have a good enough glove to play first base in the majors.

I think these vest uniforms that the Rockies wore (and maybe still wear?) are particularly ugly. I hate the flared shoulders and the fact that a black vest goes over a black shirt. The vest thing looked much better when the Reds did it. https://ca-times.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/6262f19/2147483647/strip/true/crop/512x437+0+0/resize/840x717!/format/webp/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcalifornia-times-brightspot.s3.amazonaws.com%2F05%2F59%2F45440d671f4af889928e59bb05b5%2Fsdut-colorado-rockies-troy-tulowitz-20160903-001> https://thumb.spokesman.com/hbj7IpDSRrI8zYtBd_BMJVggLZE=/400x0/media.spokesman.com/photos/2010/05/15/larkinpic15_05-15-2010_I9IKRA2.jpg>

I've always hated those Astros rainbow jerseys. Not only are they absurd looking, but I hated that the uniform number was on the pants instead of the shirt. https://s.hdnux.com/photos/26/30/21/5866585/23/rawImage.jpg>

The worst part of the uniform that Terry is wearing is the cap. Way too busy. I kind of like the version that Jeff Torborg is wearing on the 1973 card. You don't often see the team name entirely in lower case. (I'm thinking maybe the Padres did it for a while?) Also, I didn't realize that Jose Cardenal went all the way back to 1965.

I guess this is the good-news counterpart to the other thread. I'll open with Lenny Randle, Howard Johnson, David Cone, and R.A. Dickey.

Miller died in St. Charles, Ill., for those who Ultimately track such data. https://ripbaseball.com/2022/05/29/obituary-bob-g-miller-1935-2022/https://ripbaseball.com/2022/05/29/obituary-bob-g-miller-1935-2022/ Thank you!

I was just visiting https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYM/2022.shtmlBaseball Reference's Mets statistics page (they still don't have last night's game or box score posted; hence the delay in Schaefer voting) and was looking at the array of "Top 12 Players". I noticed that I was able to identify all twelve faces, and wondered if I'd still know all these guys ten years from now. So... as a test, I decided to look back ten years to see how I would do. One thing led to another and I leaped, ten years at a time, all the way back to 1962. Here's how I did: 2022: I correctly identified all twelve players. 2012: Nine 2002: Six 1992: Ten 1982: Nine 1972: Twelve 1962: Five Give it a try and let us know how well you did!

=MFS62 post_id=95351 time=1654707939 user_id=60] As for Contreras, there were some CPF-ers (me among them) wanting the Mets to sign him in past years. He's 30 years old, is arb eligible and won't become a free agent until 2023.

The Mets will be getting to Anaheim just in time for the Angels' new-manager winning streak.

Willets Point wrote: When thinking of MLB cities with a surf culture I still would go with San Diego rather than the one that is distant from the coast at the edge of a desert. Yeah, but the Angels pretend that they play in Los Angeles.

If the Angels really wanted to "connect" with the city of Anaheim, the players would all be dressed like Mickey Mouse. I wasn't aware until this morning that the Angels were riding a 12-game losing streak. In just two weeks time, they went from being ten games over .500 to two games under. A cautionary tale! Is Syndergaard lined up to face the Mets this weekend?
