Canha is making me say to myself, "Hey, maybe this guy is going to be a lot better than I thought he would be." I recall, almost forty years ago, thinking the same thing about Howard Johnson. It's early yet, but it's a nice thought.

We're kinda going on faith that they're accurate.

Showalter is the manager, even when he's not there. It's his loss.

Maybe the Mets can go with a portrait of Joseph P. Guryeb or Giuseppe Franco. We seem to have nostalgia for the Mets sponsors of yore, at least to a degree. Manufacturers Hanover. Dairylea. Schaefer. Rheingold. Garcia y Vega cigars. Will future generations feel the same way about current sponsors? I'm not even sure who they are anymore, since my MLB.tv feed of SNY telecasts overrides the local ads. From what I can tell, the only Mets sponsor seems to be Limu Emu and Doug.

I've always been able to clearly see the M in that logo. I don't think the patch itself is ugly (although it could certainly be smaller) the main problem is the fact of it. We're on the slippery slope.

I thought of Tim McCarver too on that one. Very nice to see McCann come through.

I was glad when his strikeout wasn't a GIDP.

I just turned on the game in time to see the top of the second inning end. Is there any reason why the runner from third wouldn't have rushed home on that play?

That video seems to imply that we should be excited about seeing a Motorola patch on the Padres' sleeves. I suppose that's a better place than the front of the jersey, but it takes up real estate typically used for memorials and commemorations. What happens if Nate Colbert dies? Does he get squeezed under the Motorola patch?

Voting for all games played through Easter Sunday, April 17 (the series against the Nationals, Phillies, and Diamondbacks) will close on Monday, April 25. If you intend to vote on any of these games but have not yet done so, please try to cast your votes this week.

I'm afraid the answer is to hope that he opts out and then move on.

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking too. Good ERA, but not over enough innings.

I should probably address this in the UMDB. Right now, there's no distinguishing the Cubs and White Sox on this chart, unless you know that the Mets would have had a home-and-road against the Cubs but not the White Sox. http://leaptoad.com/mets/wl_opponent_year_graph.php?year=2019>

Did Johnny Unitas have an aversion to bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes?

Schaefer voting! It's still a thing! Be sure to do your duty, Judy! Fun fact for 2022: On the day that CPF members cast their first Schaefer votes in April 2005, Francisco Alvarez was a toddler. Nine games are currently open for voting. https://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/index.phpCast your votes.
