The Death of Piggy has inspired me to make a change at the UMDB. All players/personnel who are deceased will have a black border around their photo on https://leaptoad.com/mets/metannual.php?ThisYear=1969this page. This will allow visitors to tell at a glance who is alive and who is dead at the present time.

Until today, Piggy was the third-oldest living Met, behind only Dave Hillman and former CPF visitor Frank Thomas. With Pignatano's death, Ken McKenzie moves into the top ten, Rick Herrscher into the Top Twenty, and Tom Parsons is now in the Top Forty.

Could it have been a vote for the other Bobby Jones?

Weird and unexpected fact: Brendan Donovan of the Cardinals is the first person named Donovan to be stored in the Ultimate Mets Database. That means that no Mets player, coach, farmhand, or opponent ever had the last name of "Donovan". I had thought that it was a pretty common name, but perhaps not! It took 60 years for the Mets to encounter only one Donovan. It took a Showtime series only one episode to encounter seven of them! https://releasedate.me/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/ray-donovan-next-season.webp> (This picture shows five Donovans and one Daryll.)

This weather forecast (as of the moment, anyway) has the snow stopping in Denver at around 11 a.m. on Saturday. If that turns out to be the case, there should be plenty of room to play two games that day. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/3f345b93f02bdea125a122a4798a6b17174a3153bb0f45b4d5238343613d7368https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/3f345b93f02bdea125a122a4798a6b17174a3153bb0f45b4d5238343613d7368

I think a doubleheader tomorrow is most likely.

I agree that the Mets shouldn't trade one of their top prospects in order to replace about ten starts from Max Scherzer. But there may be other trades that can be made and they should at least be explored. And yeah, Adonis Medina is certainly someone to consider for the rotation.

Wow, I remember when Kranepool was at the top of the list.

I have to shamefully confess that I was in favor of trading McNeil this offseason for a starting pitcher.

Jeez, I remember that one from when it happened! I actually thought of that line a week or so ago when I had chicken cacciatore for dinner!

That's because we've become reliant on moose from Russia rather than good ol' North American moose.
