This reminds me of how much Dwight Gooden loved pitching on Fridays. He could have made virtually all of his starts on Fridays under that plan.

I also assumed that the 154 games would be played over the span of time normally allotted to 154 games, thereby offering no breathing room in the regular season. But I suppose if they're subtracting eight games from the regular season and adding only two to the postseason, that would allow for an extra six days off.

I've seen #3 floated as a possibility. It's weird, but certainly not as weird as the ghost runner. I don't love the idea of shortening the regular season, but it's not nearly as bad as some of the other recent changes.

I was hoping they'd get rid of the pitching coach. (I don't even know who it is!) The improvement shown by Peralta and Peterson after they left appears to be rather damning. -

I rewatched it shortly after Dolly Parton died. It was disappointing. I remembered it as being a better movie. It was like watching a mediocre sitcom. And I agree about the fantasy sequences, both in general and specifically to this film.

They have several potential rookie replacements for Semien. I think he'll be gone from the organization before Opening Day, whenever that might be. I don't see them doubling down on Polanco. They'll import someone to play first base.

I've been a Mets fan since 1971, when Tom Seaver was all that and a bag of chips. Opening a pack of Topps baseball cards and getting a Tom Seaver was like Charlie Buckett getting a Golden Ticket. But as good as he was, and as much as he meant to the team, he kind of fell somewhat short of being completely likeable. Mookie was all positive energy. I'll never argue that Mookie was better than Seaver, but that's not the only factor that goes into "favorite", at least not as I define it.

I like the players who look like they're having fun out there, making a lot of money to play a game. That was Mookie Wilson. And Francisco Lindor, too. But Mookie came along when I was younger and more impressionable, and although Lindor has had some iconic moments as a Met, nothing like Mookie's big moment. Having said that, it's hard to quibble with anyone choosing David Wright.

The summary of the MLB.com article is a little misleading. Stearns didn't say he wouldn't add an ace. He just dodged the question.

I was curious about how the Mets compared to other teams at first base. 28th was higher than I expected! Which two teams got less production out of first base?
