  1. Fun fact! His mother was Claudette Colbert and his son is Steven Colbert!
  2. Voting for all remaining games from the 2022 season will close on Wednesday, October 12. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/warning.gif> http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/Cast your votes now!

  4. Mustn't neglect Pete. (And Francisco too!) http://leaptoad.com/mets/cards/2022RBILeaders.jpg>
  5. Looking at their stats, it looks like Manny Machado is the hitter we should fear the most. Although Sosa could certainly wake up at any time.
  6. No, I think he was asking if there would be a Game 163 if one of the two teams, unlike with the Mets and the Braves, wasn't already guaranteed a playoff spot anyway. And the answer is no.
  7. Can we talk about Nate Colbert? https://www.tcdb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/72/72-571Fr.jpg> https://www.tcdb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/72/72-571Bk.jpg>
  8. Under last seasons' rules, if the Phillies and Brewers had finished tied for the last Wild Card spot, they would have had to play a Game 163, and the loser would have gone home.

  10. There are no Game 163s under any circumstances. A team can indeed miss the postseason due to an off-field tiebreaker.
  11. If the Cleveland vs Tampa series ends in two games, and all other series are still going, then Sunday's Mets Padres game will move to 4 pm.
  12. Freeman now 2 for 3, so we probably have a batting champion.
  13. Freeman just homered. Now he's 2 for 2.
  14. I know Michael Kay by name only. I wouldn't recognize his face or his voice.
  15. Wild Card tickets went on sale Tuesday morning at 10. To my surprise, tickets are still available for Games 2 and 3. (Didn't check Game 1.) Got tickets for me and my two kids for Saturday's Game 2. Surprisingly easy! What's up with that? The last time I tried to get postseason tickets was in 2006 and I had to enter a lottery or something.
  16. Rain delay. They should just skip it. Or make it up in December in Florida.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: The Mets are poised to enter the playoffs in pursuit of a title. I view Judge the way I do all non-Met players — as just another highly suspicious figure trying to impose himself between my team and their destiny. He doesn't care about immediately solving my problems. If he did, he'd be over here doing yardwork or some light plumbing for me. He's been hogging the back pages, to the detriment of the Tabloid Cover Derby.
  18. Glad to see it. As soon as Freddie makes his first out, McNeil will clinch the title. I'm also glad that Pete is sitting. Wish Lindor was as well, but looking at the roster it may not be possible to sit Lindor and McNeil and Escobar without playing someone ridiculously out of position.
  19. I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I don't expect it to happen. But there's probably going to be a lot of roster churn this winter, with all of the pending free agents, so I guess anything can happen. I wouldn't have expected Scherzer either.
  20. Yes, he is. He just had to be in the organization on September 1.
  21. Anthony DiComo wrote: What could the postseason roster look like? The Mets' initial playoff roster will probably include some quirks, since they're only prepping for a best-of-three Wild Card Series. Here's one stab at how it could look: C: James McCann, Tomás Nido 1B: Pete Alonso 2B: Jeff McNeil, Luis Guillorme 3B: Eduardo Escobar SS: Francisco Lindor OF: Brandon Nimmo, Mark Canha, Tyler Naquin, Terrance Gore DH: Daniel Vogelbach, Mark Vientos, Francisco Álvarez SP: Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt RP: Edwin Díaz, Adam Ottavino, Seth Lugo, Trevor May, Joely Rodríguez, Drew Smith, Mychal Givens, David Peterson, Trevor Williams Because the Mets won't need more than three starting pitchers in the Wild Card Series, it's fair to assume they'll leave both Taijuan Walker and Carlos Carrasco off the roster altogether. Those two will instead throw bullpen sessions to stay fresh in advance of a potential NL Division Series matchup against the Dodgers, clearing space for the Mets to carry nearly every member of their regular bullpen. Tylor Megill is also an option to make the roster over anyone currently projected to hold a spot in the back half of the bullpen.
  22. Long relief, I would guess. Maybe not in Game 1, but he could probably be ready for Game 2 or 3.
  23. I hope McNeil sits. As noted in the "Passing Lane" thread, Freeman needs a 4 for 4 to pass him. I want Jose Butto to be the starter, or someone else who won't be on the postseason roster. I don't know if Butto is on the taxi squad, or if the Mets can manipulate him onto the active roster for today, but that would be my choice if possible.
  24. I think McCann will be on the roster. Maybe Walker has a better chance than Carrasco... Buck removed him pretty much as soon as the Braves/Marlins game ended, presumably so he'd be available to pitch again sooner rather than later. Rodriguez has pitched well lately. I think he'll be there. I'm curious about what they'll decide about Alvarez and Vientos. I'd be surprised if we see Ruf on the Wild Card roster.
