  5. You're not violating anything. Cleon is just a grump. Pay not attention to him.
  6. m.e.t.b.o.t. wrote: simpsonized mr. met appears to be a pale bald guy, with stitches on his head, which is technically correct. Sounds like Gary Cohen to me.
  7. There's a Simpsonized Mets uniform somewhere. (From the episode where Apu tried to Americanize himself.) Maybe that can be photoshopped under the Mets heads. (Might have to remove the piping, though. I think it was a 1986-style uniform.) Sounds like a job for Zvon.
  8. ="Farmer Ted"] A 26-year-old Climax stripper who would identify herself only by her stage name, Barbie, said most customers pay for two to three minutes, but one man paid $100 for 20 minutes. I'd hate to have been behind that guy on the drive-through line. I wonder what kind of Happy Meal toys they give out?
  9. It's now twice as easy to make the postseason as it was in Ozzie's time. (Eight teams now, four teams then.) So Omar's six can be said to equal Ozzie's three.

  11. If I was a big league player I'd never put that phony pregame cap on my head except, I guess, when it's probably required. Like in a spring training game, for example. But during warmups I'd wear my regular cap until somebody physically MADE me switch caps. And then I'd go back to the real cap as quickly as possible.
  12. ="Valadius"]So I think Vizquel deserves to make it in, not just because Ozzie Smith is in, but because the Hall does allow room for excellent fielders who were decent with a bat. HOF voters didn't seem to apply that rule to Keith Hernandez, who was more than decent with a bat.
  13. He's never electrocuted anyone in his swimming pool. That ought to count in his favor.
  14. One thing that can be done in PhotoShop is we can draw (or paste) an orange interlocking NY on the blue cap.
  15. I think it's short, tight, and curly. But I may be thinking of someone else.
  16. I know THAT. My point was that the magic number alone doesn't determine whether or not clinching is inevitable. It's relative to the lead.
  17. Omar. He's inarticulate. (I thought somebody had to belabor that point, so I stepped in.)
  18. It's amazing how, when searching for a "large" image of Billy Wagner, I also get Matt LeBlanc, Sammy Davis Jr. and Opus the penguin.
  19. For consistency sake, should we do white Mets with realistic color skin or yellow skin. (Both are options.) I vote yellow. And no, irish, you don't have to enroll or anything.
  20. It hasn't been pretty, but the Mets are two thirds of the way towards that sweep I demanded earlier in this thread. Right now, triple happiness is clearly a Mets win combined with losses by both the Phillies and the Braves. Triple Happiness tonight would be a nice way for me to depart into my two-week West Coast exile. Let's Go Mets!
  21. If your name is Johnny Dickshot, Frayed Knot, G-Fafif, bmfc1, soupcan, Yancy Street Gang, or Vic Sage, then you've already voted for Tuesday night's win in Pittsburgh. If not, please vote today because voting will close tomorrow, perhaps in the early morning. http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7124 Note to G-Fafif: It's probably partially my fault, because I initially got the score wrong (8-8 instead of 10-8) but you opened (and voted in) a duplicate Schaefer thread for Wednesday night's win over the Pirates. That thread has been locked (because there were already three votes in the original thread) so please repost your numbers in the correct thread. Thanks! (And sorry! The score has been corrected.) Tomorrow's tally will be the last one for a while. I might vote in a few of the threads while I'm on vacation, but I won't have my magic spreadsheet with me, so no additional tallying will occur until after Labor Day. Please keep voting though. When I return I'll catch up on my voting and my tallying, and I'll announce the August Player and Pitcher of the Month winners.
  22. ="Gwreck"]Didn't we start when it was over 100 last year? I think counting down from 40 is just fine. The Mets had a much bigger lead last year. With a half game lead, starting the countdown at 10 would even be premature. Noting the magic number is one thing, as a measurement of the task ahead. But "countdown" implies inevitability, and that's just not the situation at all.
  23. I wouldn't count down until we get the feeling that the title is inevitable. We're a long way from that.
  24. Delgado has been better than you're giving him credit for. Not as good as last year, but he's been getting it done over the past few months. He's been much more than "one good week." His horrible start has left a bad taste in our mouths, but he's been a contributor. (And I bet you'd be very surprised at where he ranks in total Schaefer points for 2007.)
