Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 still early I think. i'm mostly mucking along managing injuries.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Some of that saved money now spent on May break-outs seems to closing the gap, too. The Drunken Savages are adjusting the rear-view mirror and not happy about it...
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 i hope its still early enough, because i'm still trying to figure out how my team could possibly be so bad offensively. in terms of runs scored and slugging, i'm farther away from 11th place than the 11th place team is from 4th place! obp is better, in that the same gap only puts 11th place into 8th, and for homers only 9th. so i might have a chance at eventually getting some points in those two categories....my pitching seems to have gotten better, too, after a few unnecessary bumps, with about the third best squad. but, man alive, i could hardly have a worse offense if i'd tried!
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Help is on the way to the highest bidder! I see an auction has starter for super hawt Detroit prospect Christin Stewart!
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 The boat race is no more! I think I was out of first place for 1 solitary day since Opening Day, but I've now been eclipsed by Mohawk and Muddy Chickens with Snukes and Smiggy right behind. Carrying the rotting corpse of former superstar Paul Goldschmidt has finally caught up to me!
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 I had to do some serious tweaking of my pitching staff (and made myself broke in the process), but I like where I am right now. I just hope I don't regret cutting Matt Olson when all is said and done -- it was like he was waiting for word that I dropped him before saying to himself, "OK, you can start hitting now."

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 watch out league! my offense now has 6 points to it's name! that's more than i've had since the first week of the season, where i think i had up to 7.5 points of offense, for about a day.i'm coming to get you, drunken savages and red flyers! just you wait. and wait. and wait...
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 I'm amazed at all the $$ that was saved during the draft and is flying around now. I'm clutching my last few pennies like a nervous old grammy.

I can't get any traction at all.

I can't get any traction at all.Is your team a disaster? Are you having trouble gaining any traction?? Maybe you need slugging first baseman CHRIS DAVIS in your lineup! That's right, Chris Davis is available for the right price! Inquire with the Pawnee Drunken Savages right away! DO NOT DELAY!But wait, there's more!!!If you act now, the Pawnee Drunken Savages with throw in AT NO EXTRA COST, one-time SUPERSTAR right-hander Danny Salazar! WOW-o-WEEE!!!!
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I didn't save during the draft, and I'm finding ways to throw money around. The more you cut during the season, the less you need to cut during the offseason. But while my pitching has responded to my moves, my lineup hasn't; I had a complete game one-hitter last night and still lost three points.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 hey, my team is a disaster, and i could sure use a slugger![checks chris davis' stats]holy shit dude. he's so bad he wouldn't even help my shithole of a lineup. i, too, did not save during the draft, and am wondering what the hell i managed to spend my money on.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 My team has trouble with the longball - we don't hit enough, and we give up too many.Which is weird, because I've got sluggers; they're just not slugging. Stanton is hitting them, sort of, but Kris Bryant and Josh Bell aren't.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 seawolf17 wrote:Which is weird, because I've got sluggers; they're just not slugging.Reminds me of this other team I root for.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 So glad I had Matz AND Gray in my lineup for their starts this week. So much for my last-ditch run for the top.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 You should trade for Kershaw

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Make me an offer. I'm in 11th place, and I I have 3 GMs so if you reach the right guy maybe a deal can happen
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Nice! A trade! MOAR TRADEZ!!
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Congrats Rougned's Odor on the boat-race win! I think you moved into first a month or two ago and just kept steady pace. It was a spirited battle for the other 2 medal positions. Looks like a few more ABs/innings today to shore up 2nd and 3rd. Cool league, cool format. Thanks for letting me crash again this year.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Is Rougned's Odor in the CPF? And who runs the Pawnee Drunken Savages? Thanks to everybody involved (especially for letting me get Jeff McNeil for $3) and congrats to the winner. He took his lumps last year (grabbing an abandoned team, IIRC), but he took full advantage of all the unspent money he had coming into this season.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 Lots of stuff to talk about this offseason. fight about. argue about. whine about.think the price is going up too. I have to look it up but..1. playoff format2. Do we want to throw a couple more bucks in for a prize at the end?3. possible change in regular format? 4. anybody leaving/coming?5. when's the draft? Anyone got plans for mid march? I typically pick a tuesday or wednesday night at 9. Probably the 19th or 20th. But arguably we could do it waaaay earlier. It's not like a regular league where you want to know who's going to make the teams. knowing who's on the bubble is part of the auction/keeper structure.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 I'm hanging my ottoneu ownership hat up. If anyone wants (or knows someone who wants) to take over my team, I'm happy to turn over the reigns before arbitration and cuts so that a new owner can do as they see fit with what I've got. Otherwise, I'll make those decisions as though I was carrying on, but I'd like to be out before next year's draft for sure.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 despite the fact that i was horrible in this season, (actually, i shat the bed in both my leagues this year), i prefer this format to any others. i actually thought i had a puncher's chance until the all star break came along and crushed my dreams with cold reality. i need to find a way to get unspent money. my team is shit, and all overpaid, and yet i struggle to identify where i should clearly make cuts. also, i believe in these guys. much like the mets, i think we turned it around a bit at the end, giving reasons for hope. but, man. i need to look at my pre-season projections to see how badly it all was. yikes!

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 Do arbitration! we need a few new teams too, who's in?!
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 Arbitration ends on Wednesday the 14th, so if you want to make your opponents pay more for their best players, now is the time to make that happen.
