Everyone's still in right?

Anyone want to be first alternate for someone that may or may not come back?

I was able to add a site password which should prevent people from randomly grabbing accidentally abandoned teams. the password for the league is 'ed'.

i have a friend who might be interested in taking on a team, if need be. he's a mets fan.

although, given the history of the league, maybe y'all shouldn't let me bring anyone else in, so as the rest of y'all might have a chance of winning! ;)

if i may continue a thought from the 2017 thread...

instead of divisions, and if we did put some small meager cash money on the table, we could always award a smaller prize for the second-half winner. tally the stats at the all star break, reset the totals to zero, and see who does best from then on. that might be enough to keep people's interest.

alternatively, and i'd mentioned this in the message board, we could try to run an off-line head to head mirror league, where we sum up every team's weekly stats and match 'em up against that week's designated opponent. it'd take a fair bit of work to pull off, but would offer some distinction and maybe a reason for lower-tier teams to play.

altogether though, i was in 7th place at the end of june, and going into the last month, i honestly felt like if things broke just right, i might be able to make a run at the lead. and was really hoping to at least take second. and the devil toads climbed from 35 points to 60, and were within spitting distance of a few more points, too. and poor muddy chickens, looked like he was going to run away with the damned thing early in the season, and he dropped to 8th (and will plummet to 9th once his pitching stats get expunged). so the season is really up for grabs even late.

i guess the bigger issue might be how do we get the bottom of the league to get into the game, and keep trying to run out the best lineups and build the best rosters, but theoretically, the dynastic nature of our league should make that happen. those teams should be shedding salary and building future depth.

My team was all over the place this year, and I made bad lineup decisions because I wasn't on top of it every day. I left a ton of points on the table that could have put me into second place.

I'm back in for next year, and I don't want to make a massive financial investment, but a fun $20 buy-in or something is doable.

yeah. I don't want to get too heavily financially into fantasy. I'm already in Fman's league for like $100 or something.

but I was thinking like $20, or even 10.

at $20 we could do $120 to the winner and like $40 to the second half winner or like $5 for each category win.

That we're fun!

I figure give LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr a chance to at least claim he wants to play this season first, but if not, the usual $10 spiel.

Okay. see if he actually wants to play and we'll get him in. We'll give him a short grace period to cut whoever he wants from the roster to get ready for the draft.

If everyone else falls though and you need an extra dude, I can play. I was terrible a few years ago at keeping up with the daily lineup changes, but work has me in front of a desk 5 days/week, so I'd be more reliable nowadays. LMK, fellas.

Personally I'd rather someone from here, but did Marathon already promise the team?

the guy wants the team, and is a mets fan. he was this ][ close to joining last season, but because initech dropped out literally the day before the draft, he decided to hold off.

i'm literally about to send you an email with his contact info. the email is open on my other monitor ready to send.

we do seem to have a 1 team / year turnover rate! i'm sure you'll get in sooner or later.

I deserve a mandatory mulit-year banishment after my initial performance in this league.

so i just PM'd seo; a spot may be opening up. the playoffs thing is a factor in the decision-making - not the only consideration, but it pushed him over the edge.

i _really_ think you should reconsider the playoffs...

In theory I would, but I'm not comfortable, nor have the time to shake everyone down, in the lack of response I'll get if I request/demand a response/vote. the turnout/conversation on the initial thing three weeks ago was sparse as it was.

I voted for playoffs, but it is not a deal breaker for me. I can also understand about not wanting the formats to change as teams have been built around current stat categories.

Just my 2 cents.

I got an email from mm's homie. He said he'd be dropping and would ship the old Guadalajara Cornballers team back to me, if that's cool with everybody else.

If so, would you guys refresh me on the format, key dates, etc.? And catch me up on the new changes?

Gracias...

what was your fangraphs/ottoneu id?

main one is you have to be available (or find a proxy to be available) next Wednesday at 9 for the auction draft. Otherwise it's Otto roto. categories listed on the team pages, your prospective roster.

https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/209/team?team=1886

the current argument is a few people seem adamantly against playoffs because of a slightly different format for determining the winner. No one's vehemently come out in favor of playoffs (though I'm sure they will the second I cave and nix the playoffs) Currently winner is crowned at the end of the season based on the roto categories. proposal would be a head to head format over the last 4 weeks of the season which uses a more counting based statistic grouping (doubles, SB, HR etc) rather than the rate based ones we use now.

Sux on the draft date... me and muh lady friend have tix to an event, so I'll have to see if I can re-sked, but it's unlikely.

What's the deal w/ keepers?

your team is your team. keepers are already set. you keep everyone. It'll suck to miss the draft though. At the very least you should see if you can find someone that just wants to draft for you, at least just for a few guys to round out the roster. otherwise you'll have a week to play with the waiver wire and add guys. You're coming in with a real solid team though.

OK, cool, so I have 18 guys already. The draft then is to fill out the remaining however many roster spots? I think I get ask my brother to fill in. He's been wanting to do an auction so he would dig it.

FG/Ottoneu does not have an app, do they?
