Rays were so excited about getting to come to Citi in 2018 that they decided to come this year too. They'll play, as the home team, next week.

Apparently MLB was motivated to choose this venue because it only required hotels for the Rays and not their opponents.

I would totally go, except it's the MFYs. Eff that.

If the Rays were fighting for a playoff spot, they'd be within their rights to be upset about their competitors getting three bonus home games.

I'd go except for the young kids thing. Just to offset the balance of the Yankees fans defiling the place with their filthy cheering.

and also because last-minute mid-week back to school and the games are probably going to be fairly empty and it's fun to have the run of the place like that.

Baltimore would have been great. It would have been payback of sorts for the time Tampa/St. Pete hosted the O's as the home team during the Baltimore riots, and O's fans would have been in the strange position of rooting like heck for a team a game and a half behind them in the standings.

With this, the MFYs will play 17 of their last 20 (including six with Tampa) games in NYC.

Apparently MFYS III was already booked for a human sacrifice or some such event, thus the need to find a real ballpark.

Rays are in Boston this weekend.
MFYs in Texas.
Both teams scheduled to be at home when the series is over.

They should be playing this in Cincinnati, not New York.

They're 3.5 games out! Not exactly out of it.

Flushing Bay Rays.

I feel like the Rangers got a lot more grief about not swapping home series with the Astros during Harvey. I mean, the Rays do come back to YS the last week, why can't the Yanks just swap the two series?

Would be cool if the 7 Line Army bought up some tickets and rooted for the Rays.

All seats for $25 = all seats $25? Including Delta Club and other luxury field level seats?

I would totally go and root for the Rays if I lived in New York.

If I read the press release correctly, they're only bothering with Field Level seats.

Because they're the Yanquis, they don't alter their plans for other teams, other teams accommodate them.

Wonder if a home uni wearing Duda would get the Strawberry Apple treatment if he hit one out?

The way the Shea Apple came halfway out for Straw back in 1998 when the MFYs sullied Shea vs the Angels when beams were falling down in The Death Star II.

As it turns out: [NY Times]: switching series with Tampa "was never seriously considered because of previously scheduled events in [YSIII]", namely a soccer game which is to be played today but
that requires time for re-sodding afterward, plus there's a food convention/trade show on Tuesday & Wednesday.

I feel like Yankees fans should have to pay more for tickets than Tampa Bay & neutral fans, just to make it fair. Yes, I know there's no practical way of doing this.

The Rays are disgracing our field vs the Yanx - which is pretty much what we did on our field as well.

The worst part is that it's tied at 1 with two outs and the Rays commit an error to give the Yanx the lead and keep the inning going, then Ellsbury "accidentally" hits the catcher's glove for his
record-breaking* 30th time, which was of course followed by a 3R HR
The Rays bunted on Sabathia in the 1st inning - apparently without seeking permission first. No word on whether the Yanx have filed a complaint with MLB, or with the World Court in The Hague,
or whether Hillary has added this to her list of things responsible for her loss last November.

* Ellsbury broke the tie he was in with Pete Rose, only that Pete had almost exactly triple the number of plate appearances.

Anyone else notice that Cesar Puello was playing left field for the Rays?

I knew my kid would make it to CitiField one day. I just never thought it would be that way.
