Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Is it worse than this one?I remember you reacted strongly to "GOOD NEWS, BIRD NEWS"
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Hate that orange-haired mother fucker.(not really, it's the hind-sighted lament and jealousy talkin'...)
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 It looks like Justin's dyed hair is running.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 looks like someone just dumped a big tub o' vomit all over him.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I thought the cover photo was fantastic. SI still does great photography. The cover sucks, though, like most every cover nowadays sucks. It's too bad that the present trend is to cram practically the entire table of contents onto every magazine cover.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 What can be bad about the SI Curse?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 This cover reminds me that I'm pretty sure Turner was one of the voices in the LAD clubhouse who went to mgmt a year or so ago and told them they needed to get Puig the fuck out of there.Seems that winning cures all ills based on that photo.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 24, 2017 Author Posted August 24, 2017 First of all, the point of having three periods in a three-word phrase is to suggest that the statement in the phrase is such an unadulterated fact that each part of it is a fact, so it should be ... three periods. "BEST. TEAM. EVER."The question mark in "BEST. TEAM. EVER?" totally belies the two earlier periods. That's bad copywriting!
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Sports Illustrated acknowledged baseball? I thought it was just a football/naked women sheet these days.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 I think they're trying to say they're the best team now with the ever part still TBD
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Frayed Knot wrote:I think they're trying to say they're the best team now with the ever part still TBDThen just one period would have sufficed (after TEAM).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 24, 2017 Author Posted August 24, 2017 Agreed. They stamp in two periods for emphasis and then follow that up with the wet noodle of a question mark? Don't come into my layout office with that garbage!
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 can see it on my laptop. Memories of Carrie

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 also, why is EVER? not on its own line???BEST.TEAM.EVER?would look a little more sensible.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I got the cover with Roger Federer. I'm not complaining.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 My issue came with no cover, but the address label stamped on the TOC. And they wonder why print is going to hell.
