Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 The Mets are reporting that Dominic Smith will be promoted and will join the team tomorrow. So Sandy DOES give a rat's ass! At least a little rat! With a little ass! The reigning PCL player of the month went 2-4 last night with an RBI. Don't know if he'll be in tonight's lineup, but he'd better come up with a goopy name fast. SMITTY. DOMINATION. DO-SMIT.I think he and Rosario should go with THING 1 and THING 2.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Rosario is El Niño according to the mets.com buy stuff page. If Blevins is Gordo, maybe Smith is Flaco. No word on the roster move that creates a spot yet, huh?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 (edited) Let's hope Smith's arse doesn't get too big. Edited August 10, 2017 by Guest
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Smith? As in the mighty blacksmith of Greek mythology? Then he should be Hephaestus!, or ...Maybe not.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 Chad Ochoseis wrote:No word on the roster move that creates a spot yet, huh?Well, I assume they announced this a day in advance for a reason, and they have an idea of which corresponding move is going down. But they ain't gonna tell a guy to play his heart out but tomorrow he's toast.Smith isn't on the 40, but blood won't necessarily have to spill. I think there's room (hey, Bruce's spot!) but things are real convoluted right now.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 (edited) Didn't they open that roster spot with the Jay Bruce trade? I didn't read that the minor leaguer they got for him was added to the 40 man roster.OE: Activated Legares.Someone's gotta' go.Later Edited August 10, 2017 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 Yes, I noted that his spot was open.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Lagares was activated from the DL and took the Bruce spot.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 Yeah, but we mean the spot on the 40. Lagares was never but on the 60-Day Disabled List, and so never vacated his spot on the 40.Who goes down or gets traded or what have you still remains to be seen.

I started typing before yours was posted. As for who goes down, too bad they don't have Eric Campbell any more. He was always good for a demotion or DFA when we needed one.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 I'm guessing Nimmo goes down for a few days until they make another trade. Also possible that deGrom hits the DL.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Salas makes living room for young Mr. Smith. Maybe someone will claim him, and we can make a d-- sorry; thought I could keep a straight face for that, but I was mistaken.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Looks like his minor league nickname is BIG DIESEL.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Rockin' Donn Clendenon's old Double-Deuce.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 I approve of 22 for Dom Smith.I don't know what that means for Kevin Plawecki, though. Whatever became of him anyway?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Batting third and hitting like a fiend in Las Vegas.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Well! That actually sounds promising.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Not impressed at all. Swing looks long. Defense seems overrated. I know. Small sample.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Hopefully it's an adjustment period, I kinda think the Mets have him penciled inas a sure thing. Little overweight for such a young athlete, no?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Looks overmatched at bat. I'm not sold.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 He's got a lot of rope (and so does Rosario) as far as I'm concerned. Let them play the rest of this year against righties and lefties and see what we've got. They're not going to be world-beaters the first time out, but a lot of good players didn't have instant success.
