G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 The Rangers ride back onto our schedule and into Flushing for the first time since 2014. We split with them in June. We spit on them (figuratively) in August. No-Name Double-A pitcher (go ahead, Flexen, use that as inspiration) takes on Andrew Cashner, 7:10 PM. They're not the Dodgers, so let's not futz around.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 7:10PMY'mean, we're going to have a whole team of .......................................... (wait for it) .......... Night Rangers?Later
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 At this point it's all about avoiding embarrassment.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Hey, we're going into the series with the dynamic duo of Chris Flexen and Rafael Montero ... how bad could things get?At least we won't have to face Darvish.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Joey Gallo now 31 HRs and 20 singles on the season. That's crazy!!Do you suppose he's going to celebrate his HR tonight at Umberto's?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 And he turned down a HR Derby invite.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 I'd worry more about the fact that this is the second time in three days that we're trying the 'hit 3 HRs the first time through the lineup then take the rest of the game off' tactic. It didn't work last time either.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 I notice the Rangers use the Cubs' strategy of putting an actual sewn insignia on their batting helmets. Like.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Tonight may be the end of the Mets August strategy: [list:1pwj9qm3]1) Trade your closer.2) Don't get in any more save situations.[/list:u:1pwj9qm3]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Ramos has a big break on that slider.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Oh Joey, what ever made AJ want to come and blow you away.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Well, pretty good on three of four batters for this Ramos guy.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 And a happy ending for Chris Flexen - his first major league victory.Chris... uh .... Chris. You can exhale now.Later
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 The Mets still win? how about that!
