Seth Lugo leads the Mets latest attempt to improve their draft position for 2018. The Giants, with a 27-48 record and some guy named Ty Blach on the mound, have an excellent chance of stopping them tonight.

It may be time to use the "Who the F*** Cares" title now.
I'll bet we could easily induce Terry Collins to join us here now to grouse about the Mets. LOL

Edit: Ty Blach? Who could root against a poor soul named that?

I was going to say "his ex-wife" (if he has one) but then I realized she would want him to stay in the majors so the alimony wouldn't stop.
So I guess you're right. I can't think of anyone else who could root against him.

Blach -- yet another lefty in our current string of southpaws -- is actually the one pitcher who's been kinda, sorta good for the Giants this year. 4-4; 4.23; 1.22 WHiP in 18 games / 11 starts

Plus I assume he was sent home early to rest up for the game, unlike the rest of their squad who were not only in Atlanta for a game Thursday but it was a night game and they had a two-plus
hour rain delay and they had a 3-1/2 hour 12-11 loss which ended barely before the west coast games.
I don't know when they arrived back in SF (or even IF they're in yet) but it was certainly after the Mets and their one hour flight. It's not often that the home team has the rougher travel schedule.

Me, too. If it wasn't clear, my tongue was planted firmly in my cheek when I started this IGT.

NY Mets at San Francisco
When: 10:15 PM ET, Friday, June 23, 2017
Where: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California
By Gracenote

Two teams struggling to scratch out victories cross paths Friday as the New York Mets visit the San Francisco Giants for the opener of their three-game series. New York has dropped seven of its last eight contests as it began its 10-game road trip with four straight losses to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Mets were outscored 36-11 during the sweep, which concluded with a 6-3 setback on Thursday that saw the team give up only six hits - four of which were home runs. San Francisco, meanwhile, returns home from a 1-7 road trip that ended with a 12-11 defeat in Atlanta on Thursday. The Giants slugged three home runs but served up four as they lost for the ninth time in 10 overall contests and fell to 4-15 in their last 19 games. Buster Posey is batting .344 after a 3-for-5 performance that featured a solo homer, a run-scoring double and an RBI groundout.

TV: 10:15 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), NBCSN Bay Area (San Francisco)

PITCHING MATCHUP:
Mets RH Seth Lugo (1-1, 2.63 ERA) vs. Giants LH Ty Blach (4-4, 4.23)

Lugo will be looking to bounce back from a loss to Washington on Saturday in which he yielded four runs - three earned - and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. The 27-year-old native of Louisiana made his season debut six days earlier, allowing one run over seven frames in a victory at Atlanta after missing time with an elbow injury. Lugo lost his only career outing against the Giants on Aug. 19, when he gave up three runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings at San Francisco.

Blach's winless streak reached three starts on Sunday as he allowed three runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings of a no-decision at Colorado. It was a step in the right direction for the 26-year-old native of Denver, however, as he surrendered 12 runs and 19 hits over 11 2/3 frames in his previous two turns - both losses. Blach, who had won four straight starts prior to his drought, will be facing New York for the first time in his career.

WALK-OFFS:
1. The Mets purchased the contract of RHP Chasen Bradford from Triple-A Las Vegas, optioned RHP Tyler Pill to the 51s and transferred LHP Tommy Milone (knee) to the 60-day disabled list.
2. San Francisco 3B Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) will be re-evaluated Friday and could land on the disabled list.
3. New York signed RHP Mitch Atkins, who last pitched in the major leagues in 2011 with Baltimore, to a minor-league contract.

Bad news for those of us who were pining for the return of Tommy Milone.

I forgot he was even on the roster. Or on the planet for that matter.

That's kinda funny. Isn't he the one with the 12 year old looking wife?

We know :)

And as for Mrs Milone, she's adorable and I hope she is lucky enough to look young forever

Curtis Granderson - RF
Asdrúbal Cabrera – 2B
Yoenis Céspedes - LF
Wilmer Flores – 3B
Michael Conforto - CF
Lucas Duda - 1B
Travis d’Arnaud - C
José Reyes - SS
Seth Lugo - RHP

Cabrera wants to be traded. Doesn't want to play 2nd. First one of those I can remember in ages.

But he's playing 2nd tonight.

Yeah that's old school stuff. What a snappy transition to Rey Sanchez

According to a source, Collins asked Cabrera to play third base for the Mets "weeks ago," but he refused. Collins did not make a big deal out of Cabrera's choice because he was afraid of the fallout it would cause in the clubhouse.

Cabrera's announcement came after the Mets released their lineup for the game, which had him batting second and playing second base.

He said he was told he would only play shortstop when he signed here in December 2015.

Cabrera's pending free agency is also playing into his decision to demand a trade.

He had asked the Mets to guarantee his 2018 option earlier this season but the team declined.

Terry on the pregame catching heat.

He handled it well I thought.

He did say he has talked to most players about trade concerns at this point.

We have Buster Olney stirring the "sell" pot today. Thats a shocker lol.
