bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 His MRI was scheduled for 7 AM. Does he use headphones during his MRI, as some do, because the noise is so loud? Does he refuse the headphones? Did they have a big enough gown for someone of his size? Is Sandy pacing outside the room?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 How long was Matz out for his lat? Wasn't it like 2 months? I suspect the same for Noah. Yes, that is wild speculation with no basis of evidence.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 7 am seems like a really odd time to schedule a MRI. It's not like surgery where a patient has to fast. If it wasn't a medical emergency that required immediate care at the hospital yesterday, why such an ungodly early hour?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Did Sandy strap him down? Just for laughs?

I think all tests tend to get scheduled early. And Sandy is probably even more anxious than we are to see what's up with Syndergaard.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 Partial tear of his right lat muscle. No timetable.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 That doesn't sound like particularly good news.

Sounds about right. So that puts us at around July 1st ... at which point you might as well wait until after the ASB so now we're up to Friday the 14th.But Noah's a big Game of Thrones fan which re-starts on Sunday the 17th so I'm calling it for that day now. Where can I get my bet down?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 So you figure it's probably unrelated to the biceps tendinitis right? These muscles are nowhere near each other.I wonder if it's more a result of the extra bulk he put on this off-season. More muscle can mean less flexibility. Maybe resulting in a strain or tear. Dunno.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Well, this sucks.Management consisted of rest followed by general strengthening exercises as tolerated and a gradual stepwise progression back to throwing. The vast majority of major league pitchers were able to return to pitching at or above the level they were previously playing4, but in many cases tendon avulsion was considered a season ending injury, since they could not return to play for 3 or 4 months7.http://radsource.us/acute-musculotendinous-tears/Nobody in this forum is an MD, correct? I read this just for kicks and I'm not sure whether to interpret "tendon avulsion" as something that always happens as part of a lat tear (i.e. we're royally screwed) or whether you can have a lat tear without an avulsed tendon, which means that with rest, physical therapy, and good luck, Thor might return to baseball activities other than spitting sunflower seeds in the next month or two (i.e. we're screwed, but maybe it's more just a peasant-type screwing than a royal screwing).
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 We need two pitchers.Or wait to become sellers eventually.eff you Noah. Thor my assSandy is somehow responsible for these injuries if for no other reason than they were on his watch.Disgusted.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Duda, Syndergaard and Cespedes all noted Barwis guys.

Those are more internal shoulder problems which, even though elbow injuries are the new black among hurlers these days (in large part due to strengthening programs for the shoulder, shoulders are a lot more complicated than elbows (which is essentially just a hinge) and have a much more precarious road to rehab. My one memory of mention of the 'Teres' muscle was from ex-pitcher (and kinesiologist) Mike Marshall griping about how no one who didn't know where the teres muscle is located or describe its function was qualified to be a pitching coach.I, personally, try to never avulse any of my tendons. That's all I got.Sandy apparently to speak at 4:00
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 They need to fire Barwis and hire a different team. I hear these guys are looking for work.[youtube:112ea2hi]Pa5mj6ifCz4[/youtube:112ea2hi]
