Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Noah takes on Edinson Volquez. Two depleted bullpens. Mets got to Volquez for five runs, four earned, last week, and didn't even use their Volquez killer Curtis Granderson.Look for a day off for a couple of guys. d'Arnaud certainly, but maybe Céspedes too(!).
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Cespedes looked absolutely gassed in his final PA last night. It was like the bat was too heavy for him.I think we may have won 5 in a row now, and have Syndy-deGrom-Havey set up here. This could be the 8 game winning streak we waited all last year for.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Rene Rivera will likely catch tonight. I have to admit that through my years of bitching about d'Arnaud he has been lights out so far. Keep it goin Travis.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Well-earned day off, GW HR and 4 hits, 4 RBI & 16 innings behind the dish. Hot.

Didn't slide given multiple opportunities, and gave up on a foul ball or two in the only remaining park in the division that has room in the outfield to pursue a foul ball. Dude may be hot, but he needs a blow, so you might as well give it to him in a game that's going to be all righthanders.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I didn't see the play but Josh pinned his getting tagged out on on-deck Walker failing to give him a slide signal (or a stand signal). Not entirely happy with Walker so far, wonder if he gets a blow too.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Keith was all over Walker for that too.Of course someone could be out there waving semaphore flags but it doesn't mean Cespedes is actually going to follow whatever signal he was given. It was a pretty risky send to begin with.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Cespedes seems reluctant to slide in general; might be a hangover from his quad problems.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 With T.J. down for Gilmartin, we have a three-man bench tonight: Yo, Neil, Td'A.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Lagares could bail us out also.13 pitchers, whew.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14, 2017 Author Posted April 14, 2017 If you're going to do the pitcher-batting-eighth thing, I'd go with Reyes ninth.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Props for the subject heading.

And in this day and age of shrunken benches, I don't know if it's worth it to carry this guy for one or three innings of outfield defense once or twice a week.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I'm from Missouri on Lagares too. He needs to really hit.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Walks kill too. Thor draws one to load the bases for NY. 2 outs.

So we might see some Amed Rosario action if we go back to 12 pitchers and a five-man bench tomorrow?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14, 2017 Author Posted April 14, 2017 Confortage with the bases hammered. Let's make a party.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 15, 2017 Author Posted April 15, 2017 Should have been taking 3-0, man.And Bruce should have been tagging on that fly.

Guest 41Forever Guests Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I see Visor Guy is back in the seat behind home plate, but it looks like he's with three different ladies. They, too, have interesting outfits.Guys in bright yellow shirts are again in row behind them. I wonder of if they get paid to wear those shirts as ad.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Is the SNY audio on super low tonight? I have my tv turned up 3X whatI normally would and then with the commercials come on it blows my hairback. (embellishing ya know, if if I had hair)
