I signed for four years—the only $100 million contract of the offseason. And since then, I've been working out like a monster.

I'm goofy, I'm funky, but I'm scary as hell and you know it. Baseballs lay awake at night terrified that I am coming. And coming I am. But how many baseballs will have their nightmares come true this season? Because the future is an obscured country.

He's settled. He's content. He's staying in left. He's got protection in the lineup. He's healthy. He's going to have a monster year.

Of course, I'd LOVE to see him hit 45 homers this year, but I can't really predict that that will happen.

I'll say .280/35/110.

He is, more than anyone else, the key to the Mets season. If he misses a lot of time, or has an awful year, the Mets will have a really hard time contending. But if he plays 145 or more games at the level he's been playing at, then the rest of the team will be in position to put the Mets over the top.

Hi Kevin Long, it looks like Cespedes had a crazy boost to his BB% last season, and a slight cut to K%. nice.

That's some solid OBP.

i'll say .282/.348/.540. 35 home runs. 5 stolen bases. 130 wRC+. Only 2 IBB though (and Duda drives him in on both of those) 5.5 fWAR. 9 games in center all season ,138 in left, 149 total.

15 MVP points.

Budweiser pays him to ride at the head of a fleet of Clydesdales in the WS parade despite 0 world series home runs (but 3 doubles)

The only problem with Yeonis being 'content' -- thanks to the long term contract and all -- is that you worry about him playing like he's content.
Even as he's been coming up on contract negotiations for essentially the last three seasons straight, there's always a hint of taking plays off or games off.

The year-plus that he's had since coming here have done enough to where you think about his diminished second and third seasons as the outliers and the dominant ones as the norm but they still do hang in the back of my mind as does the idea that he was on four teams in a year and a half span despite all that talent.

YEAR * OPS
2012 -- 861
2013 -- 737
2014 -- 751
2015 -- 870
2016 -- 884

This is nice to hear. I know that there was some concern he would get complacent after a big contract.

It's only one spring, but at least he's off on the right foot.

I don't know. I kinda worry he will regress a bit this year.

.266 - .319 - 27 HR - 89 RBI

The big question is... will he threepeat?

Save it for the "Foreseeing Seventeen: garbage new york rags" (that's rags as it in newspapers not Rangers in this case) edition.

no apologies needed, bird cages need liners too.

Some darn good reporting and storytelling in those "rags" sometimes. The high-falutin' guys are bird cage worthy on many days, too. A vibrant news stand has room for them all.

Now, if Ces produces as I think he might this season, Maja may very well be facing Ces X 3. And that's good for us and her, too. If it goes bad, then we'll get a bunch of "Ces-pool" headlines and we're not voting for those.

When it comes to the tabs, Ceetar's like a cartoon Millennial. Doesn't read 'em, doesn't bother to understand 'em.
