Greg comes strong on a Thursday! Still one point on the board.

1. 1964-65: 2-12 on the mound, 1-25 at the plate. Was the "other guy" on a notable Mets rookie card. TOM PARSONS
2. 1970-71: 5-25, then part of a big trade. Was the "other guy" on a notable Mets rookie card. LEROY STANTON
3. 1973: 3-23 in between stints in Houston. Acquired when the Mets traded away a key piece of their 1969 team. RICH CHILES
4. 1980: 3-25 for this catcher and former 1st round pick who only got 99 AB in part of four seasons between 1978-1985. BUTCH BENTON
5. 1997-98: Only 3-25 with a home run despite being Joe McEwing before Joe McEwing was Joe McEwing. SHAWN GILBERT
6. 1999: 3-25 at the plate. Walked a guy once. THAT FUCKIN' GUY
7. 2005: 5-25 at the plate in 19 games, and then at the end of the season said "fuck this shit, I'm going home." KAZ ISHII
8. 2005: Drafted by the Mets in 1990, but didn't make it up to Shea until 1995, where he went 3-25 with a home run, mostly as a pinch-hitter.
9. 2010: 4-25 ending his career with his hometown club. FRANK CATALANOTTO

Fascinatingly, all nine of our 24s made their MLB debuts as Mets. Three of them played their entire 24-AB MLB career as Mets. Four of them were involved in huge trades.

1. 1964: 4-24 at the plate, 3-5, 3.61 in 61 games on the mound. Somehow made into three Topps cards. Holds what appears to be an interesting baseball record. (I can't find confirmation.)
2. 1974-75: 4-24 as a Met, almost entirely as a pinch-hitter. Singled in the bottom of the 25th.
3. 1977-80: 2-24 as a Met. Best known for something pictured on his baseball card.
4. 1980: 5-24 as a backup infielder, then spent the rest of his career in San Diego.
8. 1999: 3-24, then got traded. Holds an interesting baseball record.
9. 2003: 3-24 despite lighting up AAA. Never made it back to the bigs.

The 2005 guy from Thursday -- it says he made it to Shea in 1995, which would mean he's not from 2005...unless there's something extra interesting about him (like he played soccer there a decade before debuting as a Met).

Good ones today:

1. 1971: Born in Flushing, started his career going 2-23 in Flushing, then famously San Francisco.
2. 1994-95: Started his career going 1-23 (and 4-7 on the mound) in Flushing, then less famously traded to Kansas City.
3. 2003: 4-23 as a Met, then got 48 AB in Oakland in 2005 and 30 AB in Oakland in 2010.
4. 2013-14: 5-23 at the plate after being MVP of the first two WBCs.

Ironically, I've been up since 6:30.

I had no idea this had a standings element when I answered the first question that was hanging around a couple of weeks ago. The important thing is we're getting closer to April 3.
