Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I'm Jerry Blevins. I'm a lefthanded reliever, I'm effective, and sometimes I fall down. I can't negotiate curbs. Why is the earth covered with CURBS?!I got a new contract at the end of the winter, and I'm planning on earning that option for year two that they're dangling in front of me. What do you think is in store for the skinniest Met?[fimg=200:ou6cb3lx]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/99/16825_metsJerry_Blevins.jpg/220px-16825_metsJerry_Blevins.jpg[/fimg:ou6cb3lx] [fimg=500:ou6cb3lx]https://usatthebiglead.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/jerryblevins.jpg?w=1000&h=600&crop=1[/fimg:ou6cb3lx][fimg=385:ou6cb3lx]http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2017/02/09/images/mlbf_1222288683_th_45.jpg[/fimg:ou6cb3lx] [fimg=315:ou6cb3lx]http://cdn.newsday.com/polopoly_fs/1.13111940.1486969986!/httpImage/image.jpeg_gen/derivatives/display_600/image.jpeg[/fimg:ou6cb3lx]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Yeah, I'll jump in. Jerry pitches in 69 games, with a 3.11 ERA, but some of his best work comes early and by the end, their confidence in him fades, but other lefties are helping out.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 In September, gets Murphy out late in the game. Rubber game. Mets hold on to win and take the series. The cover from that night goes farther than one would ever guess in the TCD 2017.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Becomes a key component of the bullpen, getting out both lefties and righties in middle inning to late key situations.Later
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Remains skinny and humorous. Goes the whole year without breaking anything. Does what they pay him to do.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Workhorse LOOGY for Terry, in both high and low leverage spots. 80 games, 70 innings. 3.43 ERA. Gives up a massive home run to Daniel Murphy in a big spot on September 22 that causes huge panic, but the Mets take the next two and clinch against the Braves later that week.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 My crystal ball sez similar to wolfie. Career high in appearances (~80) but slight regressions in ERA and K/9 from his great levels last year to still pretty good levels (ERA=3.30, K/9=9.0). Option picked up for 2k18.Will forget his ID one day in April and won't be allowed entry to Citi Field because "Yeah, right, stringbean", as the security guard will put it.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 leads National League in relief appearances specifically to get Freddy Freeman out, and does okay in the endeavor. Also sees a lot of Christian Yelich, Bryce Harper, and Daniel Muffy. I think he more or less replicates the baseball card but it's hard to watch.
Diamond Dad Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 By August gives up primary late inning lefty role to Smoker.
