Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Beatles reference and a sweet follow through swing. No brainer.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Brought the TV outside onto the deck and watched Wilmer destroy the Cubs as some friends and I destroyed my beer supply. Good times.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I love Wilmer, but headline writers were all waiting breathlessly for an opportunity to use a play on "Finding Nimmo" and they finally got it.Now, they can resume having to work hard for a living. I'll give 'em this one.Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2016 Author Posted December 15, 2016 I like both covers, but I voted for Wilmer, even though the emphasis is on 4 (his uniform number) instead of 6, the extraordinary number of hits that he got in the game.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Both are good, but I admittedly have Floresbias and went with Fab...
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2016 Author Posted December 15, 2016 A 6-to-6 tie so far. Looking for a few more voters (and hopefully an odd number of voters!) to make this tough decision!
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I voted Nimmo because the photograph was better. Both of these covers suck though, as far as I'm concerned. Do some of you vote based on the significance or import of the back page topic? I don't consider that a factor at all.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2016 Author Posted December 15, 2016 For me it's a minor factor. I mostly vote on the overall visual image.Still tied, but now at 8-to-8.

No brainer. My first thought as well but then there's that rookie HR smile beaming from Nimmo's front grill. Kinda a tie in my mind atm.Was that Nimmo's 1st MLB HR? I'll have to find out. That might tip the scales.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Not just his first, his ONLY home run.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2016 Author Posted December 16, 2016 And now we're tied at 9!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 His only one?!Nimmo gets the love.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 This hotly contested battle has ended, and METS FIND NIMMO emerges victorious. The Post's path to victory narrows a bit more with this loss. They've only secured one of the eleven Sweet Sixteen spots that have been settled so far. That one cover, however, is the highly regarded SEEDS OF LIFE, so things aren't looking entirely gloomy for the Post. Three other Post covers are still alive, and are in polls where voting continues: GAME SETH MATCH, T.J. MAXX!, and YO GOTTA BE KIDDING!
