Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 One of the keys to 2017 is what kind of pitcher Matt Harvey will be when he comes back. This little quote from Boras is encouraging though:Now that he has the feeling in his fingers, he has the ability to stretch out, lengthen out, throw, and get the ball off his fingertips while being able to have the feeling that he normally has to command the fastball.http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2016/11/scott_boras_gives_update_on_mets_ace_matt_harveys.htmlI think this is the first confirmation I've heard that the surgery worked and that the feeling in his fingers has been restored. Let's hope that this resolves the issues he had last year.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Not for nothing but let's hope he also addresses the seemingly obvious weight and cocaine problems he also has.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 That's promising, though I'd expect Boras to say nothing less. This surgery shouldn't affect his velocity, should it?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I imagine anything could. Certainly anything traumatic could. But hey, maybe he'll add a mile or two. Then maybe everybody will be getting a rib sucked out of themselves.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 But seriously though, it's good that he has feeling back no? I heard that sometimes it doesn't work.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I'm bullish on Harvey's recovery...I just hope we get 2015 Harvey back and not the 2016 version.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Can we all try to be nice to him this time around? Please?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 He does need to lose weight, get in shape and ditch the pipe.He can do it if he wants it bad enough.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 The Bart Depart means a smaller margin of error here.

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Hey, cocaine didn't hurt Trump why shouldn't hurt Harvey?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 I'd like to see a little humility and focus from Harvey. And yeah shedding a few pounds and bad habits would help.I'd expect Boras to say a cadaver was in good shape and ready to pitch, so I discount him completely.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 I'm surprised by the posts about the cocaine and other drug use. You guys guessing this because of the frat boy stuff, or have there been stories in the papers about him using?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Pure wild and unpopular speculation but based on his erratic behavior including missed appointments, downtown moneyed-hipster liefstyle, on-mound nosebleeds, over-the-top World Series 9th-innings, etc etc
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Been a fair amount of chatter and innuendo about the Dark Knight Life.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Matt didn't do much to lower the speculation about his lifestyle.
