Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Smartolo Colón and the strained foot represents the PLAYOFF BOUND New York Mets as they entertain Phil Klein of the Philadelphia Phillies and a host of his phellow relievers on National television. That's the treatment playoff bound teams get.[youtube:36i05ltu]qXd0zqyD7GM[/youtube:36i05ltu]
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Sad that they moved this game to naptime. I hope that when I emerge from my mid afternoon coma that this thing is well in hand.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Looks like this is going to be more of a game that matters than expected
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Yeah I woke up today a tiny bit concerned. What if Bartolo throws another stinko up there?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Maybe tomorrow.Maybe Sunday.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) I hope that these guys remember to change before they take the field:Rene Rivera, Brandon Nimmo, T.J. Rivera, Ty Kelly, Josh Smoker, Matt Reynolds, Robert Gsellman, Gavin Cecchini, and Seth Lugo.Of course Nimmo is smiling. Rene Rivera is hardly a rookie--it says something about his "team spirit" (or perhaps his desire to wear a skirt).https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/mets-rookies-and-rene-rivera-dress-up-in-a-league-of-their-own-garb/204425666 Edited October 1, 2016 by Guest
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I'm terrible with faces. I was only able to identify Gsellman and Kelly. If you want to see who's who, highlight the text below:Pictured left to right are Rene Rivera, Brandon Nimmo, T.J. Rivera, Ty Kelly, Josh Smoker, Matt Reynolds, Robert Gsellman, Gavin Cecchini, and Seth Lugo.

And Gsellman doesn't get to wear a wig!We had a team here in Grand Rapids -- the Chicks. And, for some extra trivia, every McDonald's egg east of the Mississippi and most of the McNuggets start at a massive chicken farm halfway between GR and Lansing. Between that an Pop Tarts made here, we've got your breakfast taken care of!
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 The most incompetent umpire in recent history, Angel Hernandez, was at third base last night. Does that mean he'll be behind the plate tonight? No matter where he will be stationed, I'd hate to see the game turn on one of his miscalls.Later

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Love the Pretenders, but these are contenders. Now let's make Citizens Bank Park our playground.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Scoreless 1st inning in PhiladelphiaIn St Loo, however, a 3R HR by Jung Ho Kang in top 1 and it's 3-0 Pitt
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 They talk graciously about Ryan Howard's career coming to a close, but he's still getting paid ten million next year.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Hey, Bart passes Charlie Hough. No small accomplishment.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Jay Bruce, turning the 0-2 count into an intentional walk. Very nice to have him that locked in and suddenly feared.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 We are up 1-0.I am embarrasingly confused on the wild card race and what we need other than to win.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 That's pretty much the way it is.The Mets score a second run, but they live and die with that hook slide thing, don't they?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 A straight-in slide and d'Arnaud is very safe there. His 'evasive' type slide wasn't necessary and it almost made him out. I can almost hear Keith bawling him out for it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Yup.Meanwhilst, the bat flipping is getting contagious. Nice swing, Loney.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Okay, now finish off this thing, Metsies.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 They're into the 6th in Santa Louisa with the three 1st inning runs by Pitt still the only scoring.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Surprised we didn't go to a lefty to face Howard.I know it's only the sixth, but that strategy has more or less worked for the team for 10 years. And it's not like they don't have a full pen available.

It could affect who to bring in to pitch the late innings.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 If they're casting an eye Loo-ward right now, they'll notice that, while the Cards are down 3 in the bottom of the 6th, they've got Birds at 2nd and 3rd with one out.Standing between them and Making This A Ballgame? Agent Bastardo.

It could affect who to bring in to pitch the late innings. They'll never slow it down enough because Bastardo is in the game for Pitt and nothing moves slower than him.At the moment he's trying to bail the Pirates out of a 2nd & 3rd/no outs (not his doing). He got a K for out #1 but now a walk/WP has allowed the first StL run and it's 1st & 3rd w/one out.Pitching change now for Pirates.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 And besides all of that. I don't want Terry to determine strategy based on what's going on somewhere else.Win your game and never mind about the rest.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Not looking quite as rosy as a few minutes ago. It's tied in the game in Missouri and down to a one-run lead in the one being played in Pennsylvania
