So I'm thinking that Logan Verrett may not be the answer for the rest of the season.

Logan Verrett isn't the problem here. The problem is that in this depleted state, against a team like this and a pitcher like this, the Mets need to cash in every opportunity they're damn well handed, and not give away the cheap shit... and they're 0-2 so far.

The other guys do the small things better than the Mets do at present, and our guys may not be equipped to do the big things to offset that. Especially tonight, against a team like this and a pitcher like this.

Ok. TV is getting turned off. I can't listed to Verducci any longer and I can't watch Verrett walk any more batters.

Will check in on the score but I'm not sure why I'm expected to care about this game if the Mets front office doesn't.

And Kenny forgetting # of outs. These two are a dream team.

He kept going too. Everyone's walking back to their positions and he keeps going, yak, yak, yak. That must be a play by play guys worst fear. I bet for a split second he was mortified.

NYM pitchers last successful sacrifice bunt was?
- sometime earlier this year

- during the Bush administration sometime ... the elder Bush.
- I don't remember which one specifically, but it coincided with one of the moon landings

You may choose one of the above.

Well whatever it was, the streak continues. Pathetic.

Maybe it's my being blacked out and stuck with radio, but this team is dragging ass.

It's not your radio.

I'm blocked on MLBtv. No FOX TV where you're at?

Verrett all done. Ate up 6 plus in a serviceable manner. If we can't get 3 runs we suck. I don't think we suck.

Probably.

As for Verrett, 6-plus, seven baserunners. Not bad. But those walks-- especially the one to Scherzer-- killed.

I'm starting to think that re-signing Murphy is something about which Alderson should have thought a little harder.

The real question is why I'm blacked out on the internet because I live in Baltimore, which is an hour outside of DC, but in a different media market, even though it's a damned national broadcast.

Count your blessings. I'm not blacked out in Cleveland, but I'm beginning to wish I was.

Yep, leading off an inning. I saw that and switched over to Mr. Robot for awhile so I didn't even see the triple. Scherzer looked a little shaky early on. We should have pounced.

We'll have to look it up, but my guess is most people here were
ok with Murph moving on.

Not anymore. And Sandy's supposed to know better than us.

If I remember correctly, I was OK with Murphy going unless it would turn out that his end of last season newfound skill-set was for real and not just randomness.

Not that Cespedes hasn't been good, but there was more statistical/video-based evidence to support a Murph-has-turned-a-corner argument than a Cespedes-is-a-destroyer-now one.

IIRC I felt if it was a choice between re-signing Muff and getting Cespedes to stay, because of financial restraints, then I wanted them to get Yoenis. But being a NYC market team, we really should be able to afford them both. So I don't know if I lay this all on Sandy.

I told you all last season. Murphy discovered lift and like a baby with a pair of keys, he's fascinated by it.
