I feel like he owes me one too.

Y'know, as weird of a game as this was for NYM bats, it was at least as bad for the Marlins who someone managed to get 'only' six runs while grinding out 17 hits - which is pretty poor when you consider that we handed them at least half of those six runs with errors (only one officially) and some all-around sloppy play.
The key was 15 of those 17 being singles, only drawing two walks, plus two GiDPs (the first two outs of the game and the last two) and a really poorly-timed bunt-into-DP. So as much as the Mets sometimes suffer for their over-reliance on HRs, there's a reason why BA correlates less well to scoring runs than does OBA or SLG or OPS.

The defense owes him one too, including himself.

Didn't Rodney suck when he was with us?

Rodney never a Met.
We've had a bunch of relievers seemingly like him but never actually him.

And he ain't shooting off any arrows today!!

My bad. I could have sworn we had him that year when we went though like three closers at the start of the season before settling on Mejia.

Must be a flashback from his Tigers days!

Are you perhaps thinking Jos Valverde?

The bad thing for me was that we had to leave at 6 PM for a party. The good thing was that I was able to show the score to several Nationals fans when the Mets took the lead.

Yes! Thank you.

Colby Woodmansee with his first homa as a pro!

This turned out to be a 5-1 win, and a good game for a lot of fresh-off-the-boat draftees. Gene Cone and Blake Tiberi each had two hits, and top 2016 draft pick Justin Dunn made his professional debut, pitching the last two innings, giving up no runs on two hits, walking none and striking out a pair.

What a fucking sport.

All the more enjoyable watching this on DVR, semi-sauced.

We missed the last part of the comeback, having gone off line and driving 30 minutes to Auburn, NY to seek out some A-ball baseball (all for the sake of seeing both baseball and fireworks on July 4th, with the hometown Chiefs on the road this year).

Saw Harv blow up while cooking and then caught some of the comeback while doing dishes, and more while driving out to Auburn.

This is what's maddening about this team. If it wasn't bad enough that they allowed Harvey to pitch while cooking, they had to be absolutely perfect in executing their comeback WHILE washing dishes.

And then scoring those last two runs while trying to operate an automobile? You're making this too hard on yourselves, Mets.

Is there any web site that does a concise 2-3 minute video recap of a baseball game? Any time I go looking for highlights I have to click on each play and wade through 6-10 links to see the big moments. Can't they just recap it for me without making me watch that many commercials first?

There's a cable show MLB Tonight. They show highlights of all the day's games. If they have a website (never looked for theirs), you might have luck there. Also, maybe on the SNY website.

the app on the phone doesn't have the ads. (I think the videos might be avail in the free version too?)

I apologize if I missed this discussion, but why were the Mets wearing backwards American flags on their sleeves on Monday?

That's the military standard. At least, that's the standard for any (most?) US military uniforms in which the flag is worn on the right shoulder. The idea, if I've got it right, is that the field of stars should be in the position of highest honor.

Thanks for the explanation!

Just think of it as if you're watching a parade down Main Street in your hometown.
If the parade is passing you from right to left, the flag on the back of the Mayor's Cadillac will be flying, as we usually see it, with the star field in the upper left.
But if you move to the other side of the street (to try out the lattes at the other Starbucks maybe) the parade is now passing you from left to right and the flag flying off the back of the opposition Green Party's Mayoral Candidate's Prius will be flying with its star field in the upper right.

It's the same with the soldier unis. The fact that the flag is on the right shoulder means the flag would fly like the Prius flag, just as it would if said soldier was carrying one instead of wearing one. Move that patch to the opposite shoulder and the flag-patch would be reversed to its "correct" position.
