Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Funny to have Triple Happiness where Phillies' wins count toward happiness. If they continue to do well we may have to count their losses for happiness again. And if the MFYs continue to suck, we may just drop them off.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 If the MFY's continue to suck, it might be fun to re-visit the original TH teams (Braves and MFY's). It might end up being half the season.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 If we celebrate every time the Braves lose this season, we're going to run out of bandwidth by August.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 That's a risk I'm in favor of taking
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 As long as there are YLDBs, there will be happiness when the MFYs lose.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 The Yankees never drop off. Crosstown humiliation never gets old.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 The Yankees can never lose often enough enough. To consider dropping them from inclusion in the triple happiness thread is blasphemy.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 5/8/16Mets 4 - Padres 3Cubs 4 - Nationals 3 (13 innings)Red Sox 5 - Yanx 1 (and in only 2:27 ... I didn't think that was possible for a Yanx/Sawx game)

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 The key was knuckleballer Steven Wright* for Boston who tossed a complete game 3-hitter on just 101 pitches. By contrast, Harvey today did 102 through 6 and Cashner for SD was at 98 after just 5Also helps when all scoring comes via quick-strike HRs: 4 for BoSox, 1 for Yanx.* his friend's father invented the battery insertion diagram you know
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 And with all games ending within a two minute span of each other:Mets 6 - Marlins 2Reds 7 - Nationals 2Orioles 6 - Yanquis 5TH on June 3rd (another sleepy, dusty Delta day) 2016
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Last night was a much delayed and much appreciated TH night.Mets 2 - Royals 1Rockies 8 - Yanx 4Dodgers 3 - Nationals 2 (3 LA runs in the 8th)And you can even make it a Fourple Happiness day if you throw in the Braves (6 straight wins!!) knocking off the Marlins in 10 innings to help us regain 2nd place. It's been a long Happiness drought.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 July the 2nd 2016 will forever be known as a TH day.1st - Colon out-duels Jake Arrieta and Familia has a perfect 1-2-3 9th for a 4-3 NYM win over the Cubs2nd - Cincinnati takes advantage of several Washington errors to score 5 times in the 10th inning for a 9-4 win3rd - Andrew Miller pitched a no-hit inning in the 8th to preserve the 1-1 tie, but his first pitch of the 9th got hit for a walk-off HF by Justin Upton. I guess not having the lead caused Girardi to deviate from his 'formula' of Bettances - Miller - Chapman but, cause-and-effect or not, it looks like this was just the 3rd time this year that Miller has worked into a 2nd inning.Bonus - The Braves put a'hurtin' on Jose Fernandez and the Marlins opening up a 1-1/2 game gap between 2nd & 3rd
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Firecrackers are Happy!!Mets 8 - Marlins 6Brewers 1 - Nationals 0ChiSox 8 - Yanquis 2
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Since the Marlins are chasing them, this is really a Quadruple Happiness Day.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Author Posted September 29, 2016 (edited) I know it's not really Triple Happiness under the defined terms, but last night was pretty sweet. Maybe we call it triple happiness (not capitalized).Mets 5, Marlins 2.Rockies 2, SF 0.Reds 2, St. Louis 1And even though the MFY's won, the Red Sox had a champagne celebration in the Bronx. We are so triply happy! Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I think the current definition of Triple Happiness is indeed wins by the Mets and losses by the Cardinals and Giants. There's nothing more important than that that needs to happen for the Mets this week.
