Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 He went to the doctor today and shortly after being assured it was nothing, it's something: Not pitching tomorrow, which puts him off schedule to start OD.Nothing's wrong with the Mets, folks.Anthony DiComo @AnthonyDiComo 2m2 minutes ago"His arm is fine," Terry Collins stresses of Matt Harvey. But clearly something's up. Collins called Harvey's ailment "a mystery." #MetsDrug problem? Roids?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Marc Carig @MarcCarig 1m1 minute agoAlderson says possible Harvey may see doc in NYC.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Ah, for fuck's sake. This is not what I wanted to see 6 days before the season starts.I'm hoping my high expectations for this season don't lead to disappointment.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I don't know that we were 'assured' it was nothing, if so, those people are idiots.seems like he 'might'? see a doctor in NY now. So second opinion? seems like a medical thing. Probably not an illegal (in the suspension manor) thing, but really could be anything. spinal stinosis?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Rubes said earlier in the day Harvey went to see a "non-orthopedic" doc. That would rule out tendons, ligaments, muscles and bones, right?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Well I'm basing my limited understanding of the matter of what Marc Carig told me during the 4th inning on the radio. In the 60 minutes it took the Mets to go down meekly, it went from "no worries, he'll make his next start" to "maybe seeing a specialist in New York?" and they still haven't revealed what he's suffering from.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Rubes RIGHT NOW on the ESPN side bar thingy:Sandy Alderson said Matt Harvey may have to go to New York for further examination. He will not pitch the remainder of exhibition season, but Opening Day not yet ruled out yet. Alderson said Harvey experienced a symptom which prompted medical attention. The GM declined to reveal any specifics. However, the Mets say it's not orthopedic (related to an elbow, shoulder, etc.).
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I mean, could be anything from a wart to like, bubonic plague. Not likely a simple infection or he'd just take some antibiotics not getting a second opinion. But it's the last game of spring and he wasn't likely going to Las Vegas anyway, so really he's just missing tomorrow and everything after that is unclear. If you want to look on the bright side, if you really wanted Harvey to throw once more to build up arm strength, you could be thinking "let's get him in an extended spring game then and have deGrom hopefully get OD in before the baby and then Harvey after that.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Yabbut, he missed today's team-building trip suggested by the Captain!SC=96.7%...but if there was one guy on this team I would suggest team-building exercises for, it would be Matt.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Bloody nose? Who's in line behind Mattman for the opener?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I'd assume deGrom...if his wife isn't birthing instead. All of a sudden, three days off in the first week doesn't look so bad.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 ... a "non-baseball medical issue"Hmmmmm, hemorrhoids?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Hard not to think of this as the most ominous thing.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Maybe he's got a bad case of jungle rot. Hope whatever it is it's short-lived and doesn't mushroom into more than they're letting on.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 My brother had testicular cancer. lets hope not.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I've never just hung out on twitter before. I'll pop in and out of there once in awhile. It's such a wickedly fast pace there. In the time it took to type this I've received over a dozen tweets (not all Mets, of course). I'm hoping to hear more details about this.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Well, if it's an addiction, they probably wouldn't be advertising that they're sending him to a doctor in New York.If it was an STD, I'd assume they could treat it quietly. So I'm leaning toward the 'Harvey got drunk and did something stupid to injure himself' explanation.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I'll go with food poisoning (only because I had it a few months ago and know how it can take you out).
