Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I lost my job. I mean, I haven't lost it. I know where it is, but when I get there, there's another guy doin' it.That's an old Steven Wright joke. That's what some consider me, an old joke. I think I did alright. I hit, I out-fielded my supposedly better-fielding shortstop teammate, and I got my licks in when Tejada went down in the playoffs. I mean, yeah, I slumped through June and July (who didn't?!), and hit .059 (!!) in the World Series, and I broke my foot, but that's no reason to take a guy's job away.Ok, it's a reason. But I objectively don't think it's a DEFINITIVE reason! I don't!Hi, I'm Wilmer Flores. And I'm your right-handed hitting first baseman, second baseman, third baseman and shortstop. That might make me Kevin Mitchell or it might make me Jay Bell. YOU DECIDE![fimg=330]http://s.newsweek.com/sites/www.newsweek.com/files/2015/08/05/wilmer-flores.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=420]http://m.mlb.com/assets/images/9/0/8/140256908/cuts/Flores1280f_nwtvnb29_aqcs2sw5.jpg[/fimg]

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I wouldn't be too surprised if, one way or another, Wilmer had at least 350 plate appearances. I don't think he'll be at all marginalized.

And he was emphasizing that he was still a Met as he rounded the bases and prepared to meet his teammates at home plate. It was a really touching moment!
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Flores' flourishing will be something we'll be talking about for a long time after 2016.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I think all the moving around will be a bit detrimental. .255/9/45
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 He'll step in for an injured [crossout:1r8n80ve]Wally Pipp[/crossout:1r8n80ve]David Wright before mid year and go on to play All-Star level third base for the Mets for the next decade. This year, .288- 20- 80.And it will be only the beginning.Later
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I like this guy and am sure he's going to see lots of action.389 AB, 15 HR, 60 RBI 275/325/400
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 400 ABs, getting regular ABs at 3b and 2b, with occasional appearances at SS, and rare moments at 1B, possibly even a DH once in a while. .270 / 18 hr / 65 rbi
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 All depends on Wright' availability.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 28, 2016 Author Posted March 28, 2016 Sure, but the nature of predictions is the implicit and outrageous claim that you see all the contingencies and so can envision the most likely outcome, as dependent as it may be on innumerable factors.A lot of things may happen, but the wheel is spinning. Chips-on-the-table time.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 So, it looks like they've got to find some more at-bats for him. Some can come at the expense of So Loney, but I'm really curious about an occasional date in the outfield for Reyes.
