The answer we were looking for is "BIG DEAD MACHINE". Thank you for playing. Losing participants will receive a four piece jigsaw puzzle of the photo below, which depicts Erhardt's sign and maybe even a hooky playing Zvon.

I knew I'd feel I should have known the answer. The mind, it's
a terrible thing.

WOW! What a photo! I was literally one of the first to hit the field. No one was in front of me at the time. So I'm probably just off to the right. Still a great photo.

I can't think of anybody on the '73 WS roster who even remotely looks like that Met.

I'm feeling a strong sense of deJaVu. Leo Foster?

How times have changed. I can't find a single fan wearing Met themed apparel.

...no clue, but given the hint, I gotta believe it's Rose-related.

You're not reading the clues properly. I hinted that Erhardt's sign was topical. A "PETE ROSE IS AN ASSHOLE" sign, on the other hand, is universal, and would work just as well whether the Mets opponents are the Reds, or, say, the Padres.

Let's turn this quiz into a Wheel of Fortune variant.

The first word in Erhardt's sign was .... "BIG".

BIG TITS

Good point. The whole going-to-the-game-in-costume thing is something I've never quite understood.

Yeah, instead everybody's dressing for a basement kegger at Chris del Vecchio's house.

Because his parents are out of town and they don't give a crap anyway, man.

If that red mark is the end of the dugout, I was right behind that guys head. I don't recall if the wooden containment wall fell again on the last out, but since it fell earlier I figure it did again. I was right up against it at the last out, literally one of the first to set foot on the field. We didn't just run out onto the field. We burst out onto the field like a freakin' explosion. I didn't make a move forward, I was projected forward, out onto the field.

Shame I didn't get to see that sign when he held it up. I don't think many did. I was well aware of Karl and his signs since my first days at Shea and being at a game with him in attendance was always extra special.
