Is this the Memories thread?

His first month stunk. His second month was really good, and Gary couldn't say enough about what a keeper he was. A guy who was going to stick.

His third month was lousy again, and the same guy who he replaced (Kirk Nieuwenhuis) replaced him. Now they're both displaced by Alejandro de Aza, with a hot, spicy side dish of Nimmo waiting in the wings.

I can now stop worrying about conflating Darrell Ceciliani with Gavin Cecchini (which would have killed Ralph Kiner if he were alive to have that problem).

It's always fun seeing a player come up through the B-Mets and make it to the bigs. But otherwise I have no specific memories of Darrell's Mets tenure.

Are those Canadian $$?

I thought he had a great future as a LH PH, which probably isn't what one should be thinking about a fresh-faced callup. Had a big HR in a mostly forgotten epic comeback vs ATL in mid-June, the Sunday that followed the Saturday when the Mets blew a late lead. Darrell, Dilson, Juan and Travis set a club record: four players, none older than 26, each homering. Dillon Gee's last game (thus the need for a comeback).

His non-return in September, like Gee's, told a story, one whose next chapter will be transmitted with a Canadian accent.

And the TV guys really did slobber all over him. Nobody else was hitting, so maybe he seemed like the first coming of Conforto by comparison.

DePodesta liked him a lot.

Never wore batting gloves.

Lives on a giant hunting ranch in Oregon.

He appeared sort of surprised and doubtful about being up. I think he sorta knew the team sucked and had run out of ideas by the time they got to him.

Was very streaky in the minors too.

You gotta make a statement to stick. There's always an offseason squeeze between the prospects behind you that need a roster spot and the free agents ahead of you that get signed. Last hired, first fired, so to speak.

I've remembered Beany and Cecil far longer than I'll probably remember Darrell.

They hunt giants in Oregon? I guess that would explain why so few of them are seen in those parts nowadays.
