Often a disaster, team calendars are typically licensed through a central MLB office and then farmed out to publishers with bargain-basement editorial staffs who are as far removed from MLB mainstream as you can get, presumably producing Hello Kitty and Justin Bieber calendars side-by-side with the Mets.

But this year is... special.

Hey, maybe he's got a twin brother who can pitch as well as he does! Go get him, Omar!

There's something so right somehow about this demand being put on Omar.

Based on the subject heading I was afraid that I was going to open this and find out that we switched back to the Julian Calendar (maybe via an Obama 'Executive Order', who knows?) which would have totally sucked as I am completely unprepared for it.

Did the person who picked who would be in/out ever speak to someone associated with the team?
If so, how long ago?

Ha. Are they gonna correct that? Could make it a rare collectors item.

I have Mets calendars from years past, still wrapped in plastic. Not that I consider them a collectors item. I just never opened em. They're out in the garage collecting dust.

Looks like that list was made up in Spring Training, 2015.

I know many calendars are available in retail in September. Not sure if that's the case here but might explain some things

Yeah, we went through this last year. This is just one of several Mets calendars that'll hit the stores in the next few months.

I wouldn't bet on it.

I'd be curious to see if your 1978 featured Seaver, Kingman, and Joe Frazier.

yes, all are available 9/1. We go through this every year. This year's particularly bad with the Jason bit, but you're lucky if you get more than 6 players still on the team. September 1st probably means they put it together well before that, and I assume they just go with some press release of rosters or something. My guess is that they basically roll through them team by team and whichever team went before the Mets had a Jason and they forgot to change out the First Name text field when they did the Last Name.

It'd be almost no work at all to throw up a (unlicensed) calendar in December through Snapfish. I bet I could get enough people to buy one to cover New Years champagne or something.

I just bought one for my son (half-price!) and deGrom is now Jacob. And Noah is there, too.
