Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Seriously. I have been watching this HR on loop all morning. What a fantastic moment. A couple of things I read this morning that I missed last night.http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=350731121From that article: Fans jumped out of their seats and roared in a delighted frenzy as Flores pumped his arm and circled the bases, pointing to the word "Mets" across his chest when he came around third.I didn't see him do this. But if that is true, that is fucking awesome. I also missed this too:http://metsblog.com/metsblog/emotional-flores-i-just-love-being-in-new-york/I just love being in New York, he told SNYs Steve Gelbs before getting doused with a bucket of water by teammate Kevin Plawecki.ALSO FUCKING AWESOME. Way to take this story that could easily have been another negative one about the Mets and turn it into the best storyline in baseball.

After he tossed the helmet aside, before he jumped into the scrum at home plate, he pounded his chest two or three times, pointing to the logo across it.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I was there last night, with the family. We had great seats, it was a warm but lovely night, no traffic in or out, a pitcher's duel with some great defensive plays, late inning drama... but we tired by the 10th and watched the thrilling moment at the end on TV. Damn it. Still, it was heartwarming to see Flores get a big cheer during the announcements, then a standing O every time he got up or made a play (he made a nice one early and that got the crowd going). Who says NY fans are tough? We're big mushes is what we are.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 The other really cool part you can see on the clips was that Wilmer hit that HR so hard that all of Felipe Rivero's tattoos fell off right there on the CitiField mound! It's true go back and check the tape, you can see them scattered there on the dirt. Couldn't tell if he picked them back up or not; guess we'll have to find out next time he pitches.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I tweeted last night that the Mets needed to have racks of FLORES 4 shirts up and down the concourses; they'd sell thousands right now.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 It was thrilling and great to read all the stuff about him this morning , homegrown players are the best.....Harvey was quite passionate talking about Flores post game too.....
