So...I know I'm going to get blacked out of this Saturday's game against the Yanks (I HATE FOX!!!). That's no big deal, I'll listen to Howie.

But, does anyone know what's happening with Friday night's game? This link says that SNY has the broadcast, but my TV listing (DirecTV) has boxing on SNY (but does show the post-game show afterwards). The game is on MLB Network, but I'm afraid I'll either get the alternate game there (Nats game) or the YES broadcast. MY Extra Innings menu shows Yankees @ Mets twice, but both are the YES broadcast.

Is SNY showing Friday's game? If not, I guess I'll listen to Howie twice in 24 hours.

SNY's next broadcast is Monday, so, you're either getting it on MLB Network, or MLB.tv if you have it, or the radio/intertubes.

I don't know if this helps, but tonight's game is also on WPIXtv.

Friday's game should be MLBN's own broadcast, meaning that they're not merely picking up one of the local feeds but are doing the production themselves. Usually this involves some combo of Costas, Kaat, or Smoltz, all of whom do a pretty good job IMO so if it winds up as a choice between them and YES it's a case of no lo contendre
I know the 'Extra Innings' package usually carries the home team feed although there are exceptions and the MLBN game on Friday isn't an exclusive so the EI feed should still be available to all non-NYC area folks as well. That it's a PIX game rather than SNY could mean EI would pick up the YES feed instead but there sometimes seems to be little rhyme or reason to those decisions.

And while I'm sure the midwest will get the Cards/Cubs feed on Saturday via FOX's network channel, again EI shouldn't be blacked out for the alternate FOX game so you'll be able to get the game even if you wind up deciding that you prefer the radio feed.

And of course on Sunday everyone's watching the same broadcast no matter where you are.

Gary Cohen and today's Daily News says that the Mets are on SNY tonight, but SNY's website says otherwise. Was it a late change?

I plan to watch on TiVo-delay, so maybe I'll record on two channels, Extra Innings and MLBN. If I found out that Extra Innings is a YES telecast, then I can switch to the other.

the schedule on mets.com says (said?) SNY. I just assumed.

The Mets are never exclusively on MLBN though. it's either PIX or SNY.

Too bad the MFYs weren't on last night, so we could have listened to the anguish in Suzyn's voice as she read the out of town scores. The Jays won 6-0, adding a 1/2 game to their AL East lead.

Thanks for all the help guys. SNY did do a graphic on Wednesday that said the Friday game will be on WPIX. Unfortunately, Extra Innings does not always carry the WPIX games and this is one of those times.

I will start by trying the MLB Network broadcast tonight. If it's the Mets game, I'll watch (unless they are carrying the YES feed, but I agree with FK that this one should be their own crew). If they are showing the Nats game (technically NYC is closer to me, though), I do have MLB.TV and will watch the game on the WPIX feed there (and hang out in the pool).

Tonight's game on MLBN will be their own production with Costas & Smoltz on the mikes.
Definitely go with G, K & R if you can get them, but you could do worse than that duo if you can't.

Watching the post-game show on MSG. They are replaying and rehashing what the MFYs did wrong and spending little time showing highlights of the Mets. (They are showing Terry's post game, though)
They were bemoaning the fact that because the game was in a NL park, they couldn't use a DH.
Its baseball the way its supposed to be played, you morons. STFU.

OOPS, Terry said Clip-art experienced some discomfort in the back, and that's why he wasn't used. Not good.

That was reported before the game.

I just got home from work, which is why I join these discussions late almost every night. I don't get to see many of the night games, much less the pre-game stuff.

C.C. Sabathia going in for alcohol addiction treatment, out of the postseason (which we hope will be a one-game affair anyway).

Best to the person inside the enormous uniform.

How great is schadenfreude?
Boys and girls, if you see a sad MFY fan today, enjoy the heck out of it.

Off this morning, so in between dropping YoungerPooper off at kindergarten and my morning workout at the Y, I may have stopped at my local Modell's (the one with the MFYS "frieze" on the outside, which normally stocks only a token rack or so of Met gear) to ask several staff members whether the Yankee gear was on clearance yet*.

*And pick up a kid-sized Cespedes shirsey.

Well at least the Yanx have numerous large contracts coming off their payroll heading into next season.
Oh wait, hey have no large contracts coming off their payroll heading into next season! Only Stephen Drew & Chris Young at $5mil each, and Young they kind of need and might re-sign at a raise.

Champagne celebration of the coin flip playoff? And here I was telling my son last night that teams only have champagne celebrations for winning the division, pennant, and World Series.

Did the Mets celebrate before going to Cincinnati in 1999? I don't think so.

No, but that Cincy game was still part of the regular season and not part of the playoffs.

Having a wild celebration for winning the one-game WC seems like a bit of overkill just days (sometimes ONE day) after having a celebration for clinching that WC spot.

I agree that the champagne shower is a bit much for winning the one-game series. The same can be said for winning the Division Series, I guess. I think hugs, back slaps, and high fives should suffice. Save the champagne for winning actual titles: Division Championship, League Championship, and World Championship.

But, you know, whatever. If they want to spray champagne, that's fine. It's not high on my list of gripes.

After 6 months of working towards a common goal (especially on a razor-thin margin in this case), I don't have a problem with a celebration for any sort for movement to the next level.

Still, this should only be the first step, so celebrate accordingly. I'm not sure why the Astros had to move the party out to the Yanqui pitching mound.

I loved the visit to the mound personally.

It's true, even if it's only one game though, that it's worth celebrating. When you clinch the WC spot, you're celebrating that you made it over 10 other teams. When you win that game, you're celebrating that you made it to the NLDS and over 11 other teams. After you win that, it's 13 teams, then 14..
