The ol' Twin has hit like a prince since joining the Rockies. But it brings up two questions that can only be answered on the field.

[*:g9zydh5b]Will what happens in Colorado stay in Colorado?[/*:m:g9zydh5b]
[*:g9zydh5b]If the production comes with him, will the dodgy health come also?[/*:m:g9zydh5b][/list:o:g9zydh5b]

Get to work on that beard, MC.

What's it gonna be from our new outfielder?

Torrid start. Cools down in late May/early June, but still plenty productive, until he strains a neck muscle trying to grow that beard (HE'S A GAMER) and misses a few weeks. He's not quite the same afterward.

120 G, 465 PAs, .263/.331/.436, 45 R, 11 HR, 52 RBI, 40 XBH

I just realized-- I projected d'Arnaud for about the same season.

I think it would be great if Muffy, Wright, Flores, Cuddy, Grandyman, dArnaud, Laggy and Duda all hit exactly 18 home runs this year

I think it'd be funnier if Colon did.

God, would I KILL to be at the one game where Colon hit a home run. Can you imagine the joy?

The Cuddyer home runs will be smiley affairs, too, I'd imagine... but, man, Colon? That would break the stupid fake applause meters.

I'm scared of his age, recent injury history, and change of venue. Plus he's put up BABIPs the last 2 seasons of .351 and .382, despite a career .314 number. Has he acquired the skill to hit em where they ain't, or is he hella lucky? I'm betting more on the latter.

.276, 16 HR, 73 RBI, 64 runs, .320 BABIP

Total bust and oft injured in 2015. If you think my off-season
kvetching about him was bad, wait until summer!

Hard to compare him to Bay unless you wanna. Half the years and close to half the salary once you account for inflation.

If he doesn't work out, he's a lot easier to move aside.

I'm thinking this will be a plesantly surprising free agent win!

22 homers, .285 batting average and 85 rbi.

If the Mets throw him out there every day they'l deeply regret it as he gets hurt and fails to hit righties. give me .260/.320/.425 in only 100 games.

if they're smart and dont play him in the damn outfield every day and use him primarily as the platoon partner for vs. lefties at first base, he hits .270/.340/.450 with a good line against lefties and more games played thanks to pinch-hitting (with less total at bats)

Well, if he gets hurt, he'll almost certainly fail to hit righties.

But you really want the Mets to go into the season staring Kirk Nieuwenhuis in right over him two days out of three?

That seems like a perfectly viable fallback plan, but I wouldn't make that an opening strategy. His career platoon split looks pretty typical, with .101 difference.

vs. RHP: .274 / .332 / .450 // .782
vs. LHP: .291 / .378 / .504 // .883

It was more pronounced in his third of a season last year, but that was more about killing lefties, not about failing against righties. He had better numbers against righties in 2013.
