Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Just cuz I know you were all just sitting around wondering who Frayed was rooting for at this point in the playoff picture. And feel free to list your own if so inclined. My preferences, in this order: Orioles - they're an AL East team that's not the YanxRoyals - fun team on the rise that's been out of it for so longGiants - not quite sure how they do it sometimes, but they doCards - they're annoying, things seem to go their way all the time, and they're just plain not that goodKind of weird that I'm going with both AL teams over the two NL, but it's time for some new blood.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 FK's order is fine; I would put KC first as more deserving than the Orioles but not by a huge margin.I generally don't like rooting for the American League in the World Series, but as in 1997, 2008 or 2011, it's sometimes necessary.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Royals all the way. All the way until they are bumped out and then....I'll be hard pressed to do my normal "back the NL team" thing. If the Royals go down....I may stick with an AL team. This is hard to do, but I'll grind and bear it.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Two AL teams I kinda like, and two NL teams, one of which I despise (cough-Cardinals-cough) and one of which I don't like.So it's easy. Royals, and failing them, Orioles.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I really can't bring myself to root for an AL club. But if the O's don't win, somebody will have to talk Buck down from the window ledge. So I'll hold my nose and go for them. Later
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I still have lots of connections to St. Louis, and I was at Mizzou for the 1985 I-70 Series. The state went nuts.So I'm pulling for the Royals and Cards.I'm tired of the Giants. I would not weep if the Orioles won.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 The Orioles won't stop. And neither will I.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I'm rooting for either AL team that advances. No one needs another STL or SF championship.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 1. Giants-Royals.--I sort of enjoy SF's biennial familiarity. A year on, a year off...seems reasonable. The Cardinals, OTOH, are the thing that wouldn't leave.--Spent enough time with swell NY Giants diehards and descendants that I've grown empathetic to their even-year cause. Call it Sausalito Syndrome.--Royals too good a story to cut loose.--My senior cat and the Kansas City first baseman share a name, and I can't get enough of hearing "Hosmer" on television.2. Giants-Orioles.--Neato note I picked up on Twitter, I believe: if this is the matchup, it will mean the Giants will have faced each of the eight American League franchises (in one iteration or another) that were in business in 1903 -- the year the World Series began -- in the World Series.--Also lots of black and orange ahead of Halloween and two to-die-for gorgeous ballparks.3. Cardinals-Orioles--Only for the spate of 1944 rematch features by way of the Browns on the 70th anniversary of the Streetcar Series. Once those are over, no thank you to anything with the Cardinals in it.4. Cardinals-Royals--I'm 1985ed out. Though whoever wants to beat the Cardinals is welcome to do so.
