Fulfills his photodestiny. Signs with Marlins.

Sort of a perfect landing place for both parties. Minor league deal, tho.

Pie in the face, fastball in the junk.

Twice turned a Jon Papelbaum save to a Mets win.

Papelbon in 2012. Walkoff grand slam in 2013. HBP idiocy that clouded his transcendent contributions. Calling on Collins to suck on his cocksure attitude. And got hit where it counted in a game that didn't count.

Sure squeezed a lot of images out of just a couple of results.

Honestly thought he should've been given more time in the OF in 2012, but I guess rubbing everybody in the organization the massively wrong way can't help but wind up counterproductive.

The kid had attitude. Not always the talent to back it up, but he did have attitude.

I remember being amused by Keith calling him Valdespinny once.

And the walk-off homer against Palpelbon was sweetness defined!

But generally, Jordany was more trouble than payoff. May he be the same way for the Marlins.

Oh, I think the talent was (and is) there. Just not the discipline. They speak of makeup. Whatever it means, it don't mean him.

Miami is exactly the place --- they'll play him enough for him to do something spectacular once a month but tolerate the lack of polish that would be counterproductive and demoralizing in a pennant race. Plus he'll be closer to his pharmacist.

Suspended in the minors. Twice actually --- once with the Mets and once with a winter league club. Would love to eventually get those chapters added to his bio.

I'll remember that there were several teams of out of town announcers (Washington & Atlanta spring to mind) thinking he was a star in the making based on a handful of big hits against them.
It's too bad that you can't arrange trades through announcers or else we could have flipped 'Speen for half their minor league systems.

You do kinda wonder if he's a time traveler now though don't you?

Had high hopes, then he became nothing but an annoyance. If he gets too much playing time he'll be exposed, just as he was with the Mets.

This. Biggest memory for me will be the big pinch-hit home run in a game I was at in DC.

Here's the assault by pie again. I couldn't believe how hard he smacked him with that thing when I first saw it.

That still cracks me up. And Jordy can see him coming and everything. He's like: I see you, come here, I'm ready for it, turns to the closest camera on him, and BAM!

I really can never get enough pie. I really was hoping against hope that he'd end up with the Braves, just for gits and shiggles. But, y'know, the Tropic of Clubhouse Cancer works, too.

I'm with Edgy-- the talent is there. But, hey, talent without discipline makes for really interesting "You know, I used to be a ballplayer" stories from 'Uncle Jordy' ten years from now.

Talent is a dime a dozen...

He did allow us to coin a new word:
Valdespin - Verb - to be hit in the groin with a baseball while not wearing a cup.

See also: To swing at a pitch while it's in the process of hitting you in the ankle.

2 new words.
Valdesac- noun- the area Jordany was hit in while not wearing a cup.

As far as I can see I only ever made one KaBOOM for Valde.
Be free Valde KaBOOM. Fly south.

And that's another strike against him. Fans tend to think of him as a young player still searching to reach his potential and harness his emotions ... but 26 really isn't that young.

Oh well, he's somebody else's problem now. What's mind-boggling is that nothing that happened in the past year appears to have humbled him even slightly. Or to put it another way, I don't get that he doesn't get it.

I don't know. Assholes learn humility and turn over a new leaf in the movies, but in real life, true conversions come pretty hard.

I think back to G-Fafif's post from after Jordany got hit in the beans, saying something along the lines of, "He say's he'll wear a cup from now on but the best part is you know he won't."
