My goodness we're a gloomy bunch.

Here's an alternate question, the Giants and the Dodgers never left New York, and thus the Mets never existed. Which team, if any, do you think you'd be a fan of. (For argument's sake, the Giants and Dodgers have the exact same history of post-season appearances, World Series titles, rosters, et al. in the alternate universe. And a there is a California-based expansion team that started in 1962 with an 120 loss season, startled the world by winning the World Series in 1969, and had a dominant 1986 team).

I think that question would go back to whether our dads/granddads were Giants or Dodgers guys.

I'da been a Dodeger.

Same here.

I expect I'd be a Dodgers fan too.

Giants fan. And my wife, having been born in Brooklyn, would have been a Dodger fan. And we'd probably have fought like cats and dogs and never gotten married. I'd lurch from one meaningless relationship to another, never finding the female Giants fan of my dreams. Growing more despondent, I'd probably wind up face down in a ditch.

So, it's probably better that the Giants and Dodgers moved to California.

My response from 2009 is still the same, cept I wouldn't bother with the Phils. GO PIRATES!

I re-read that old response and damn, I really did type in verse. It looks like song lyrics. I should put that to music.

I don't think that's much of a monkey wrench. More a red herring - it wouldn't make a difference.

Red herring, blue herring. Just, y'know, a stinkier sort of herring.

Having been Manhattan-born and -raised, with a Grandpa with pretty severe anti-DH leanings, I would put my hypothetical-fandom odds at 70% Giants, 30% Yanks.

But, yeah, as for Vegas... I'd probably retain a soft spot for a few of the current folks. But, yeah, I'd be Baseball Kane, roaming the Internets/airwaves for a team which called to me.

That's what I did, root for the Bucs, once my team left Brooklyn.

I attended many games at old Comiskey Park while a student in Chicago, so I would likely shift my allegiance to the White Sox.
