Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Carlos Ruiz, suspended 25 games for amphetamine use, per Rubin twitter.[crossout]Couldn't happen to a nicer guy[/crossout] too bad they didn't get Utley too.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 As Stark points out:What Carlos Ruiz left out: If he got suspended, it means it's 2nd time he tested positive for amphetamines." 1st test triggers more testing He's a serial Phucking Philthy Cheater!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Philly must be stripped of its titles! Barred from bowl games!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Need amphetamines to stay awake listening to idiot Phillies fans yelling "CHOOCH!" at him, perhaps.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 There seems to be quite abit of Adderall floating around professional sports of late.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 So... "Chooch" is the nickname for, like, some trucker-grade stuff then, right?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I thought "Chooch" were the little nuggets of shit that stick to your asshole hair. Like, "Ouch, tried to wipe and pulled on a real Chooch there."

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Isn't "Douchebag Phillies" redundant?Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 A sort of all-purpose primer on Adderall from a doc and writer for BP prompted by the Ruiz suspension -- http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=19013I believe Adderall was also the drug involved with the two Seattle Seahawk players who were suspended (pending appeal) this past week.

Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Phillies trade Jo Anne Worley to the Twinkies for Paul Revere, or something like that.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Well, looks like the Phils got their CFerRevere (Ben, no known relation to Paul) was the guy assumed to be replacing the recently traded Denard (Spic and) Span but it looks like Minnesota decided this week that they don't want young, speedy outfielders anymore.Pitcher Trevor May also going to the Twins in the deal.May, a 4th round pick in 2008, was considered a pretty good prospect coming off his 2011 season in the Fla St Lg but stumbled this past year at AA
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Phillies also reportedly in talks w/Texas to acquire Michael Young - I guess they figured their infield isn't yet old enough.I presume Young will play 3rd if this goes through, or maybe 2nd if they decide (as was hinted at several times last year) to move Utley to the corner spot.

Decent haul for a (young) outfielder with one offensive tool.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Baseball Prospectus, citing a Philly Inquirer report, sez the Phils are likely to chase one of the remaining OF FAs even despite their recent acquisition of Ben Revere.Cody Ross, Josh Hamilton & Nick Swisher remain available and advanced statistical metrics suggests any or all of those candidates could be expected to hit at least 87 HRs if he played an entire season at the home ballpark of the Phightin' Phils.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I don't know if any ballpark can be friendlier to Nick Swisher than YSIII. The Orioles are pursuing him also, so he's just a blessed hitter when it comes to finding friendly parks. But seriously, based on his propensity to slump away every post-season with the Yankees, baseball fans everywhere should celebrate Nick Swisher Day. I hope he signs with the Orioles and brutalizes the heck out of the Yankees and adds a post-season for the ages on top.(Unless he's playing the Mets.)
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 They will like Michael Young and got him for barely more than his salary.Guess we know why Olt and Andrus were "untouchable"Young must love Philly lol..He said something to the effect Im only playing here one year!!! Smart Texan
