A 12 a.m. start is very early! I guess the game is over by now. Who won?

12Am and 12PM should be banned from the lexicon. It should be either noon or midnight.

Noon start time. Good day to throw a rookie into a new and challenging role. Too early to spend all day thinking about it.

Kirk leads off in his eighth MLB start. Jose didn't lead off til his twelfth. Mookie led off in his very first game.

I always learned that, because a new day began at a second after midnight, that midnight was considered PM while the designation '12 AM' meant noon.
But, yeah, I would be hesitant to use either because there's probably about a 50/50 shot that whoever you're telling it to thinks of it as the other way around.
Just one more reason for the immediate adoption of the 24-hour clock.

I remember a whole buncha years ago Johnny Carson gave a guest spot to some ordinary LA-area citizen because he had made a minor local news story out of successfully fighting a parking ticket on the grounds that the parking hours sign was misleading due to the 12 AM/PM confusion.

I was speaking not of you, but of Nieuwenhuis, not having to spend all day thinking about living up to his promotion.

I agree. But I fear that will happen right around the time the Canadians stop measuring home runs in Meters, gas in Liters and temperature in Celsuis.
When I read the attendance at Jays games, I wonder how many people that is in American numbers.

I'm sure these groups don't necessarily overlap, but the next time someone brings up that every other league (not true) uses the DH, so the NL should too, I'm gonna respond with every other country uses the metric system, so let's get that one done first.

From less linguistically loaded times, she appears to have been a fairly gay dame. Who wouldn't be happy with all that strange foreign money?

Watching these last couple of games reinforces my sense that the biggest change in baseball in the last twenty or years regards defensive positioning. Next time you watch a pre-1990 game, notice how many balls get through infields versus today when video, scouting and whatever computer magic has allowed teams to play hitters, not positions. Wright's ball up the middle that was a rather routine groundout to Uggla is typical of what used to get through versus what gets gobbled up.

Captain Kirk with his first steal, good job! Just like stealing candy from a baby or cloaking devices from the Romulans.

Wright gives the Mets the lead! Now one RBI short of Strawberry!

Umm... Why was Wright sent there with one out? Fuck

Our starters were probably due for a couple of duds, but pretty jarring to see Johan and Dickey lit up early 2 straight days.
