You Make the Call: Daniel Murphy

if his injuries are fatal, how does he return... as incorporeal being? the result of zombie infection? a clone? spiritual possession? instant reincarnation? Is Mr. Jordan involved in some way?

.310 - 10hr - 50 rbi/50runs, before improper footwork on a DP causes yet a 3rd knee blowout. Traded to AL in the off-season.

I'm gonna guess that he's limited to about 100 games. But... if he does have a mostly injury-free season, Murphy will hit .315 with 12 homers and 42 doubles. And, should he be worthy, he will possess the power of THOR!

Will hit and field his way to the American League, or left field, or something.

Not absolutely famous .... but almost.

I'll say something along his career lines of .292/.343/.441. He'll do well enough defensively to survive the year at second base, but next year he will play third. Whether that is for the Mets or somebody else depends more on David Wright than on him.

A hot start. Will put new shirseys on the backs of roughly 60% of Metdom's working-class whiteys.

Strained MCL from vigorous morning oatmeal consumption puts him out for the year in July.

Decent player, honest to gosh darn goodness and hard work won't be enough though as he and Tajada struggle as a combo.....I see tough times ahead.

I see a Luis Aparicio/ Nellie Fox keystone combo in Tejada/ Murphy.
They'll play together for many years, and lead the Mets to at least one World CHampionship.
Tejada will flash the glove and have a higher OBP than Luis, but with far fewer steals.
Dan'l will hit (and, unfortunately, run) like Nellie, but with much more extra base power.

So let it be written.
So let it be done.

Seriously, I'm buying in on Murphy. .315 avg, with 50+ XBH.

Most likely to crash straight through the outfield wall Rodney McCray style, leaving a gaping hole of his silhouette in the wall, just like it would happen in any Road Runner or Itchy & Scratchy cartoon. In fact, I'm surprised Murph hasn't done this already.
