G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Scoreless in the fourth inning of the first game.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Wisconsin has become a sports mecca this weekend.ESPN is in town for the college football game, there are Brewer playoff games and the undefeated Packers play tomorrow. My downtown is an ugly mess of clashing red, white, blue, green and gold being worn by fans. Yuck.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Brewers load the bases with no one out in the fourth, but only get one run on a sac fly.1-0 Beermakers.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 For all the talk about the Brewers' offense, that's a pretty top-heavy lineup they've got there. One thru five is a nice start with Corey Hart followed by Crazy Nyjer Morgan, then Braun, Fielder & the now healthy-ish Weeks, but that's followed by:6th - Jr-Hairston-Jr subbing for the off-year by Casey McGehee. Decent player to have around but you don't think of him as a #6 guy on a playoff team7th - Yunesky Betancourt and his [u:y3kvqsis].271 OBA[/u:y3kvqsis]. Bet they'd love JJ Hardy* back now that he seems to have resurrected himself in Bal'mer8th - Jonathan LuCroy (decent stats for a catcher)and then the pitcher 9th although, in this case, Gallardo can hit a bit. In fact, in this lineup #s 8 & 9 might be better than 6 & 7* Dealt away two years back for Carlos Gomez
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I'm not sure how you don't walk Fielder there. Kirk looks like a moron now. 4-0 Brewers at the top of 8.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 How come Milwaukee is MIL, Detroit is DET, Texas is TEX, et al, but Arizona, per TBS's graphic, is ARZ as opposed to ARI?And who said Andy Rooney is retiring?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 One for the Suds. The glints of sunshine over the infield really say October visually.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 [u:2vus2m36]GAME 2[/u:2vus2m36] -- The amazing run of bad calls from the extra line umps continues. This time it's the 2nd batter of the game and the LF ump calls a fair ball foul negating an Aaron Hill double (he later singled). It seems like virtually every one of the relatively few calls these extra umps have been called on to make over the years wind up either being corrected or need to be but aren't. Maybe it's the 'too many chefs' theory.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Justin Upton spills red sauce all over the brats, 2-run HR in the fifth, tying it at four.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Brewers put together a big rally and win again. I predict they win game 3 for the sweep.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Brewers down 2-1 after 3 in the desert.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Looks like we got us a series here.A GS by Paul Goldschmitt - rapidly becoming a folk hero in DBacks land - and it's 8-1 Snakes, although still only in inning #6
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 Two outstanding home teams have each taken their home games, and now a fifth game is at hand. To make it less predictable, they should play it in Nebraska.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I know I've probably mentioned this here before, but every time I see a game at the BOB since Arizona changed their color scheme, it amazes me that there is really no trace of the ugly teal, purple and gold scheme that they had at inception. I mean, they won a championship in those colors, but it's like every fan burned their teal Johnson, Schilling and Gonzo jerseys the day they switched to the brick red color. Those jerseys were expensive...I'm always looking for hints of teal or purple in the crowd an rarely find them. I find that weird.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 They did break out the original colors when they had a 10th anniversary of That Championship Season this summer. Because so little has changed about the BO...Chase Field, it took me a moment to realize the 2011 D'Backs were wearing throwbacks.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Game 5 scoreless in the first Ian Kennedy v. Gallardo.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 An Upton opposite-field homer gave Arizona an early lead.Brewers threatening in the 4th with a leadoff Morgan double ahead of Braun and Fielder.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Brews threatening to take the lead in the 6th ... but now Roenicke calls for a no-out bunt with Rickie Weeks and they were lucky not to get doubled-up.I bet at least 95% of the peeps in the stands have Brewer attire on.They're not as color coordinated as Cardinals folks and the stuff being worn is of varying types and from various eras so it's not like they've gone all school uniform on us, but I don't think I've ever seen so few people without some sort of team clothing.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 The only one I have my eyes on is that chick in the yellow behind home plate. Yowza.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 What a finish. Ex-Met Carlos Gomez scores the winning run after singling off ex-Met JJ Putz and stealing on ex-Met Henry Blanco.Watching with Lunchpail as Nyjer Morgan's on-field post-game interview consists of him pounding his chest and saying FUCK YEAH!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Car-Go getting the knack of scoring walk-off post-season runs.He also scored from 2nd on a single for the Twins a couple years ago in their game #163 play-in against Detroit.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 We all need a little front-row Amy. And what a front row she has.God do I want the Brewers to play many many more home games this post-season.

Is that Lovable Randy Johnson?-- from each of the D-Back "eras," as seen here, in this terrible promo video for this year's All-Star game, at about the 2-minute mark:X6-Er6A2KpU
