Which Yankee Jersey Would You Get?

Let's separate ourselves from our Yankees enmity for just a minute. Ceetar brings up a neat question:

You know, (Doncha know?) Cano is the first name I thought of. I then sat there for 15 seconds trying to figure if I was going to buy a Yankee jersey, which one would I buy? Not Tex, obviously not Jeter. I might go A-Rod just for the legendary aspect of it. No one else really appeals. Maybe Hughes if he was pitching. Swisher is cool but I don't see him remaining a Yankee for long.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, you were invited to a "Yankees Party" where everyone was going to be offered a jersey of one Yankee, any Yankee. Who would you choose, and why?

current roster is hard to pick from , certainly not Cano , the guy is beyond arrogant and it's going to cost his team in a big game one day.

I'd choose Gardner , he seems OK for a yankee, seems an honest player who plays hard each at bat, all time I would go with Berra.

I'd ask Rogers to loan me the one he wasn't wearing.

Tino is my all-time fave MFY (for obvious reasons).

If not Kekich... I've never minded Sparky Lyle.

Though... is it authentic? I wouldn't mind enjoying some chili in a gen-yoo-ine Ruth or Mantle.

If i'm going current, I think I'd end up getting A-Rod just because he's clearly the best player on the team. (historically anyway)

Would you get it directly from the foot of Mrs. Kekich's bed or through another source?

I obviously would have to trade a Mike Kekich jersey for it...

Lou Gehrig. I can't really think of anything bad about Lou Gehrig.

And he went to Columbia, which made him the only acceptable MFY in my household when I was growing up.

But then you would have to sit on cakes bare-assed...

I don't think a partyinig LWFS needs to be compelled to do this.

Gun to my head? Waite Hoyt.

Unfortunately they don't put names on their jerseys.

(Once came close to buying a Royals jersey).

Sabathia may have been my favorite non-Met before he signed with the Yanks. That stretch he had in 2008 to put the Brewers in the playoffs was incredible. Wish they could've afforded to keep him, he was a great fit for that team, but I really don't begrudge the guy for chasing the cash. He deserves it.

Granderson's also a lot of fun to watch, and seems like a genuine good guy from what I've read of him.

(First time I've posted here in an eternity, and it's to talk about Yankees. I don't get it either.)

Jabba the Hut Chamberlain. My tent needs replacing and one of his jerseys should easily house my family of four for any outdoor camping trip.

Whichever's most flammable, for fuck's sake.

But otherwise, Jim Bouton.

Bouton's a great choice but I'd go with the Babe. The greatest player of all-time not named Derek Jeter.
