G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Jose Reyes paid tribute by playing the game (offensively, anyway) like the Say Hey Kid.The two have always struck me as something of a pair.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Willie is now the 12th living former Met past the age of 80. Next up, in two and a half weeks, Jim Marshall.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 One more article stating as fact that there was something disgraceful about Willie Mays' tenure with the Mets.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Thats just someone too young too remember 1973 and taking for fact what others have regurgitated.Kinda sad, and lazy.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Willie-as-a-Met Disparagement AlertYouve gotta feel sorry for Jesse Jackson; his time is so far gone, people dont even remember when his time was. He reminds me a little of Willie Mays playing for the Mets in 1973the best all-round baseball player who ever graced a baseball diamond, looking like a minor league-er, an all-time great who hung around one season too long.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Six Schaefer points to the next writer who positions someone past his prime as "out there trying his best to help his cause, despite maybe not being his best anymore -- like Willie Mays in the 1973 World Series."
