Well, if it's true, that's kind of stupid.

Yeah, I'd disagree with that. I'd work Hu in more and let Emaus try to work his way off the bench for a few weeks.

The only solid logic here is that last spring, I sent an autograph request to RA Dickey c/o the Bisons a week or so after he threw that near-perfecto... he was so inspired by my request that he got called up a few days later and nearly won the Cy Young Award last season.

Guess who I sent an autograph request to last week, c/o the Bisons? You betcha. Justin Turner.

Karma.

I've no problem with DFAin Emaus , he couldn't hit and looked rather shaky in the field.

There's certainly that. I mean, folks wanted a team that was willing to cut losses and move on faster. I still wouldn't have, but...

If you had sufficient confidence in Emaus to hand him the starting job out of spring training, then two weeks should not have been enough time to change your mind.

That being said, I hope Turner gives out team a boost. What's done is done.

normally I would agree here but this fella whose name I have already forgotten looked way over matched.

Dustin Pedroia looked just as terrible after his first 50 PAs. Chris Shelton, on the other hand, looked fantastic.

50 PAs-- especially a first 50-- can be very, VERY deceiving.

There may end up being a decent result to this move set here, but the process/apparent thinking behind it does not inspire confidence.

Strike one, new FO.

A little hasty for my tastes. I thought Brad had the look of a hitter.

(I know he didn't actually hit, but whatever.)

Probably is hasty but I get the impression that Collins is like that , this is a guy that uses starters in relief to help get a win in the middle of April and put Emaus on notice a few days ago in regards to his lack of hitting.

Rule V considerations take a holiday on this one? Don't they have to offer him back to Toronto?

Posted

The thing I'm wondering now is if Emaus goes back to Toronto, or if the Blue Jays decline to buy him back, or if the Mets make some deal with the Jays to allow them to keep Emaus in Buffalo.

per Rubin

He must go through Rule 5 waivers before being offered back to the Toronto Blue Jays for $25,000 -- half the claiming price. At that point, the Mets could trade for Emaus, if interested, and place him in the minors.

granted, he didn't look good...but if you were going to rule 5 someone, give him more than 50 PA....

I don't know that they had sufficient confidence in Emaus to begin with. They just didn't have greater confidence in Murphy and Turner was easily optioned.

I like Turner though. maybe if whatshisface had promoted and started him a little bit more last year, we'd have had a better idea of what he's worth.

Sorry it apparently didn't work out with Emaus, but I'm glad that Justin Turner will be getting a shot. I think he deserves it. (I say this without checking what he's done at Buffalo so far this year.)

I like him, too. But it doesn't matter what he's done in Buffalo this year... because, unless he's changed his batting stance to a one-legged heron-fu thing, it's a tiny-ass, not-terribly-indicative sample size.

I didn't find much to like about Emaus. I have no problem with this move, however, I'm not optimistic about finding much to like about Turner.

I let Muffy sink or swim at this point.

he's hitting .300 with some XBH, so if he's doing it one-legged heron-fu style, he's gonna get a lot of people into the stands to check that out!

Hi! I'm Justin Turner. I'm betting that if the news had not broken, and I had shown up tonight wearing Brad Emaus's uniform, none of you losers would have noticed the difference.

Hey now, I would've noticed! I saw you drinking wine with Scott Hairston and Kai Gronauer in Spring Training!

Please don't hit like Brad Emaus btw.

TA, NTISS.

It's not Turner I have a problem with, by any means. It's that this sort of thing reeks-- REEKS-- of Omar on a not-good day.

I assumed Emaus (Emaus -- assume; almost an anagram) was getting the benny of the doubt because of the Ricciardi connection. Good to know. sort of, that this management group is cold and calculating even when it comes to their potential pets.

It was a quick hook. They must have seen something they really didn't like...besides the kid bobbling that double play ball last Thursday.

I just heard form a Mets person I know that has intimate knowledge of the ongoing situation regarding the Mets clubhouse that Emaus was caught lifting some clothes from Jose Reyes.

"Hello? Brad Emaus? Hi, you don't know me, but I used to work for the Mets, and I'm thinking you'd like to supplement your major league minimum salary. I know where a lot of things are in the clubhouse but I can't get back in there right now. I can sell all that stuff and cut you in. I just need someone on the inside to go through the lockers and...hello? Hello?"
