nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Wright's been doing terrible hitting .240? but oh wait, if you are looking at more than just fantasy baseball stats, you'd see a .349 OBP entering play tonight and a BABIP 45 points lower than his career average... he's likely been as unlucky as he has been bad.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Rubin has reported that Turner will get the start at third tomorrow, weather permitting.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 So, if Davis is hurt, do you call up a potential first basemen (Duda, Evans, or Pascucci) or a potential secondbaseman (Tejada, Hernandez, or Adams)?Lucas Duda, 24 g: .241 / .354 / .398 // .751Valentino Pascucci, 22 g: .230 / .373 / .361 // .734Nick Evans, 30 g: .222 / .262 / .342 // .604Ruben Tejada, 33 g: .281 / .348 / .438 // .785Luis Hernandez, 25 g: .212 / .239 / .247 // .486Russ Adams, 23 g: .180 / .296 / .246 //.542Kind of narrows it down to a three-man question, doesn't it? Except (1) Tejada was intended to remain in Bufflao this year, (2) Pascucci isn't on the 40, and (3) Duda has had three chances (two this year) and been miserable.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 If it's my call, I give Evans a shot. But it's not my call.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 TransMonk wrote:If it's my call, I give Evans a shot. But it's not my call.Might be Duda just because it's been Duda. I'd go Evans. Wouldn't want to burn the option for Tejada. But it's looking like Ike thinks he can play. and he did stay in that inning so it's not horrible at least.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I'd give Ike the day off, 'twould be a 2-day rest and just let today's game be one of them to get the irregulars going.Ike said he thought it was an achilles -- that's good because if he knew it was an achilles, we'd be looking at a few months at least.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Per Burkhardt's Twitter through Metsblog:Ike Davis flying to NY to be looked at by team Drs....
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I bet he has a strained Ike-chilles tendon. Week or two of rest if it's not serious.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I suppose they could call up an outfielder and treat Harris as a backup infielder.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Heyman tweeting Fmart not in the Buffalo lineup tonight and may get the call if Ike goes on the DL.I'm gonna say Ike out one month..goodnight 2011 Mets.

Do we trust Turner as the everyday second baseman? I might be okay with it..but I'm definitely not okay with lots of Hu/Harris starts.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Rubin says that F. Martinez is on the way so, unless he gets hurt getting on or off the plane, he'll join the Mets in Denver if Ike goes on the DL.

That's why I wonder out loud if they might want to get an outfielder that might take some big at-bats away from him and knock his profile down.bmfc1 wrote:Rubin says that F. Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I meant using Harris as an infielder. he hasn't been getting many OF starts thanks to Pridie being okay. So is Fernando really coming up to be primary Lefty off the bench or is he going to play CF? or not at all and this is a bogus rumor/Ike will be okay?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Well, ideally, he won't be used much at all. I imagine there wouldn't be much need for any but the odd apperance in the infield for him. Look at it as Turner and Murphy getting their chance to shine. If Fernando takes Harris's day-game starts and maybe a few spots here and there in center, we can turn a shit deal into an opportunity.Davis hurt stinks, but Davis hurt and all his plate appearances going to going-nowhere vets stinks more.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Official: Ike to DL (ankle sprain, bone bruise) Fartinez in Denver.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 So will it be Murph at 1B for the time being? I think it would be better keep him at 2B than to move him. But I'm not sure what our other 1B options are now that they've opted to bring up Fmart.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Yeah, I would have preferred Evans.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 We need to see Fernando get as many MLB reps in as possible this season, i think.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I don't like F-Mart being here to sit on the bench. Evans would have made more sense. If he plays poorly he'd clear waivers again, and if he doesn't play poorly Scott Hairston would clear waivers.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Couldn't they claim Ike's leg had a concussion and then stick him on the 7-day DL?

Hopefully he's the 'regular' starter. or something. I'm just depressed. and now Ike's not even going to be back in 13 days? *sigh*
