Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Lots of tweets about Frenchy likely headed to the Rangers today.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 As per Rubin, they've got scouts in Atlanta today:Two MLB sources told ESPNNewYork.com that the Texas Rangers are looking for a right-handed-hitting outfielder for the bench and are considering Francoeur. "His name has definitely been talked about," one source said. The deal would need to be completed today for Frenchy to be eligible for the postseason roster.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I hope he can find a dog walker in Texas.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 We have precendent for getting actual modest value out of a late-August trade with the Rangers. We dealt Victor Diaz on August 30, 2007 for... organizational catcher Mike Nickeas, already mentioned today!Nickeas is looking more and more like a 2011 Met --- currently third on the depth charts for next year behind Josh Thole and Omir Santos, and that's third with a big fat bullet considering how terribly Santos has hit this season.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 @SI_JonHeyman: trade being discussed would send infielder joaquin arias to #mets for francoeur
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 That guy MUST be good. He was traded for A-Rod!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 That would be interesting, as Arias got DFA'd when they added Cora.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 As Casey once said, you gotta have a lot of Latino middle infielders, or else you're gonna have a lot of base hits up the middle. And stolen bases.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I found something good about Joaquin Arias: he can play all 4 IF positions:http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/ariasjo01.shtml?utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker&utm_campaign=Linker
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 According to this report, the Rangers already claimed Francoeur off the waiver wire.Excerpt:ATLANTA -- According to multiple reports Jeff Francoeur was claimed off waivers by the Rangers, who were discussing a possible deal with the Mets on Tuesday night. Typical Mets. They'll get rid of him after he did his part to ruin this season.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 KBurkhardtSNY Francoeur's locker cleaned out. He's outta here. #Mets
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 @SI_JonHeyman: hearing francoeur is "probably'' gone from mets. heres another sign. RT @SurfingTheMets Francoeur's locker being cleaned out.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 How long until the first bit of "Francoeur-departure-as-latest-bellwether-of-lost-season" hackery? Tomorrow? The weekend?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Official - Francoeur to Texas for infielder Joaquin Arias
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 OMAR LUVS LATINZ! (Also, TRADE THE CORE! And FREDDY COUPONZ!)
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Bobby Ojeda on Jeff Francoeur:"He's just not a good hitter..... That's who he is..... He might be a nice guy, but I need wins....."
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Even the satire is depressing.Joaquin AriasBats: RThrows: RPlays: ss, 2b, 1b, 3bAge: 26 and 10 daysBirthplace: Santo Domingo, DRA throw-in in the big Alex Rodriguez-Alfonso Soriano deal, Arias had been bouncing around and was out of options and designated for assignment. The Rangers were forced to move him or lose him anyhow, so the deal makes a goofy bit of sense for both teams.Kind of looks like a young Dominican Billy Martin.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 And the Mets knew this was going down and they had him play tonight.Amazin.What if he turned an ankle or something.Totally amazin.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 So, the Mets are getting a guy who was DFAd by a team that signed Alex Cora. Not a glowing recommendation.I wonder if he has to be added to the 40 man roster.Later
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Oh, and bye Jeff. I like you. You are a nice guy.Loved your arm in right. The best.Watching you hit drove me absolutely crazy but I did root for you to succeed. And I cheered when you did.L8r.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Darren Oliver, Darren O'Day, Alex Cora, Jeff Francoeur...I got your postseason Mets substitute right here.

It's no wonder a solid citizen like Jason Bay is still dizzy from being exposed to this mess.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Despite my better judgement, I put on WFAN while driving this morning. In between railing (correctly) about the Jets' shoddy treatment of backup QB Kellen Clemens, Carton and Boomer were going off about how nonsensical a move this is, and the message it sends to the fanbase. I know how we feel, and how most of the informed-fan circles in which I traffic feel, but I wonder: do we have the numbers? Or do most Met fans think Carton's way-- that trading Francoeur (and Barajas and Cora) are "giving up" moves?

Who are these people, why is this board so different?, are we all senile like Gammons?
