bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Good news for MGIM (from WFAN):Travel plans for next year, Mets road interleague will be Texas and Detroit. Sorry, no Minnesota as we originally thought.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Awaiting word on whether White Sox will come to Citi Field. Fourteen seasons of Interleague play and there's never been CHW @ NYM. Obviously they're scared of us.

Looked damn awful doing it, too. Played at New Comiskey in '02. All AL stops have been made.C'mon White Sox...chickens!

Wait, I misread that.. It doesn't have to be Central, Texas is west.. Could be the A's or something.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Does anyone know when the spring training schedules are released? The Fman family is looking at a March 2011 sojourn to Port St Lucie for Fboy's birthday, among other destinations...
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Fman--keep an eye here:http://www.springtrainingonline.com/features/master-schedule.htmThe Mets usually release their ST schedule later than most teams. This site aggregates all of the other schedules so you'll see it here before the Mets release it.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I've been wondering about the Spring Training schedule myself, as I have a free Jet Blue flight that expires if i don't book before 9/17 and Spring Training seemed like a fair plan to book it for.If you're not picky, the Mets really don't play 'away' from home for more than a game, or two at a time. And chances are they're pretty close to home anyway if you wanted to gamble and book a couple of days in the area if you werne't too picky about which specific day you went to the park.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 MLB_PR The 2011 @MLB Regular Season Schedule will be officially released tomorrow 9/15 at 10:00am ET From Adam Rubin:The Mets' interleague schedule will have an American League West flair next season. In addition to the customary home-and-home series with the Yankees, the Mets are due to play at Texas and at Detroit in 2011 and will play host to the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics. While the schedule has yet to be officially released, the Mets will open the season on the road against the Florida Marlins, according to a source with knowledge of the schedule. The Mets have played at Texas one other time -- in 2003, during a series in which Steve Phillips was fired as GM and Jose Reyes was promoted a day before his 20th birthday. The Mets last played at Detroit in 2007. That series included the Tigers winning the rubber game, 15-7, after pounding Tom Glavine for nine runs in 4 1/3 innings. The Angels last visited Flushing in 2005. The Athletics last visited in 2007.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 That season-opening series against the Marlins: didn't I hear that they were thinking of playing it in San Juan?

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Here it is:http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=nym&m=4&y=2011
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 A very disappointing schedule. I really dislike repeating interleague opponents from year to year. We had Baltimore in 09-10; Twins in 09-10; and now Tigers in 10-11. A little more rotation would be nice. All 3 visits to Washington are on the weekend.Finishing September with at ATL, at STL, vs. PHI and vs. CIN is a pretty tough schedule.

Something happened and they switched opponents two weeks before the game; rather than go see Twins-O's, we sold our tix.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Hmm. I must've been looking at the wrong schedule. Anyway, two visits to Washington next year are on weekends...

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Most interesting thing is the Friday start to the season and a mid-week finish. They talked about changing this for a few years now in order to revamp the post-season sked with a new start date.Good news:- NOT off on any of the major holidays like it seems we've been far too often in recent years. Host Pitt on Mem Day; at LAD July 4th (probably a night game knowing those SoCal sked tendencies); at Florida (or maybe Puerto Rico?) on Labor DayNot Good News:- FOUR day break for the ASG. Hate those Thursday off days.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Allows a team to end the first half and start the second with the same pitcher, though almost nobody ever does.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 With a 4:10 start on Opening Day, I can guarantee you that D-Dad is going to throw the mother of all tailgate parties!

Hate those Thursday off days.Friday start possibly in San Juan? hmm...4 day weekend in Puerto Rico anyone? July 4th weekend is the Yankees series at Citi Field. That may be interesting. And yeah, I hate the four day all star breaks. It's like leaving for vacation a day later than the rest of your family. They're all out there having fun, and you're just sitting there, doing nothing waiting for your chance.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 The humidity was unbelievable. Take a ten-minute walk and you're drenched with sweat. But I was there in late June. I've been there on previous trips in early May, and it was much more pleasant.I've been to Puerto Rico three times, always in May and June. While heat and humidity is less in May, it seems there's always a threat of rain.
