Jerry talked about "a lack of effort" during the postgame. I see that as reflecting on Jerry moreso than the team.

What a load of crap. I didn't see any techs hurriedly running around when the technical difficulties hit but I do recall GKR joking about their equiptment truck not having any AC. Was 113 here today so that might've done it.

I agree that this we the best lineup we've had on the field all year and had we actually broken through in the first I think we would have won. It didn't strike me as the usual type of disaster-game but regardless, this losing has got to stop.

In other trivial news, Pelfrey and Barajas were yuking it up during BP and Barajas was wearing Pelfrey's jersey. I didn't think they had much to be laughing about, personally.

It looks like they still haven't broken in the new knuckleball catching mitt yet - it was still being broken in during warmups. I did appreciate that Barajas throws knuckleballs to the other catchers during practice.

Homers by Thole leading off the eighth and Pagan leading off the ninth brought the team to within one. The murderous part was that we were hoping for, and it seemed they were going for, a third homer, because this team just doesn't do rallies these days.

Ugh. They suck.

Two half-innings sucked:
- top 1 when they started the inning with two straight hits (and three straight line-drives) plus a walk but couldn't score
and
- bottom 4 when, facing 7-8-9 after getting the first two outs, Dickey went walk - triple - single.
And, yeah, the single was a swinging bunt and a less rusty Beltran probably runs down the blast, but it was still sucky timing.

Games turn on stuff like that.
Of course going down in the 2nd thru 7th innings on like 5 pitches per didn't help either. (actually 14, 9, 11, 10, 7, 12 -- it just seemed like 5 each)

Also Ike picked a bad day to have a bad day. Not only was he the main culprit in the 1st inning but, in all, K'd on 3 pitches, 4 pitches, and 6 pitches - in addition to rolling a single up the middle on an 0-2 pitch.
You've heard of batters trying to hit it where it's pitched? Well Ike was trying to hit it *IF* it was pitched.

Bay is hitting(not hitting) .200 with two extra base hits so far in July. I keep hearing from the booth and other places that he's bound to get hot and carry the team for a month, I don't know , he looks about the worst hitter on the team.
