The fear in parts located around the region of my house is that this isn't Rusty Beltran, but this is Carlos Beltran, and it's he's never going to be a decent centerfielder again, much less a good or elite one. But I'm spoiled and depressed, I know.

Yeah. that's the concern. It's not time to readjust the CF/RF situation right now, and that specific fly ball was a rust and not a decline thing (since he misjudged it), but you can't help but worry. that's the nature of all this.

Now, i think it's the brace and the not the knee. The problem is how useful the knee can be without the brace. You wonder if it continues if we'll get a Forrest Gump type situation where Beltran rounds third on a hit to the OF and digs into that extra gear and the brace shatters and he slides in with the winning run at the plate and emerges his old self again.

Does Pagan in CF prevent that triple, and give us the runs? If beltran really doesn't have that second gear anymore...maybe RF is a better spot for him... If Pagan catches that, then we score enough runs for Frankie to blow a save...

Hard to tell. There's a lot of room in that OF and the ball was hit to just about the deepest part.
I think part of the problem is that we got used to Beltran running down almost anything that something seems wrong if/when he doesn't even though even a healthy gold-glover obviously can't snag everything.

Either way I say it's too soon to tell if he's permanently compromised out there and I'd be shocked if they didn't give him the rest of the season to prove otherwise.
Besides, it's not like RF in CF is a picnic either.

Pagan does probably get there. If you hit it again, Beltran probably gets there though too.
