Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Nine straight coming up in junior circuit parks. I guess it's a small shame that Beltran can't be ready in time to DH some of those contests. I better see an assload of Chris Carter, though.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I was thinking about who might DH, and Carter does seem to be the best choice. Although it would be okay if Barajas got the nod once or twice.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Yeah, then Tatis gets it once or twice, and maybe we have to work Feliciano in there to get the guy a start while he's up and you know what? I just want to see and assload of Carter.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 That's what I want too. Seven or eight Carters and one or two Barajases.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 If Carter doesn't get a lot of playing time here , or batting time I suppose then I don't know what's in store for him.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I hat the interleague road games and the feckin DH.
Guest attgig Guests Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 glad they're coming to baltimore, so I can walk to the park! =)

A car in every garage, an iPhone for every spoiled teen, an assload of ABs for every Animal!

A car in every garage, an iPhone for every spoiled teen, an assload of ABs for every Animal!Carter seems at least as equipped to DH as anyone else in the Mets system... though I wouldn't object to some Blanco/Barajas C/DH action either. Warning: If I see Alex Cora in a DH slot, I can't promise I won't throw up in my mouth, swallow it down, and then poop out the vomit and somehow suck that back in as well. Be forewarned.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I expect to see Carter doing push ups and pumping iron between at-bats to keep his high energy up....maybe have him running up and down the so called great hall they have at the dump.

STAY AWAY, BIG-HEADED JIM-- HE DOESN'T KNOW HIS OWN STRENGTH!
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I predict Carter will DH less than 50% of the AL games. Sprinkle in a Barajas here, a Wright there, and a couple of Tatis-against-a-lefty games (particularly if they see CC and Pettitte)
Guest attgig Guests Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 what kind of playing time are we going to see for feliciano? especially with Frenchy on his little tear, I don't see Jerry sitting him for feliciano at all. same with pagan. maybe as late inning defensive replacement for frenchy or bay, but not much playing time....
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I think he's mostly a bat off the bench at this point -- the type you use early in an inning to get on base (he's not a power guy at all) -- and the emergency CF until Beltran gets back.Oh I'm sure he'll see the odd start here or there just so Jerry can give each of the regulars a day off. But it's not like Bay, Pagan or Francoeur really NEED a defensive replacement unless a double-switch is in order and one of them is the last in line.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Knowing Jerry, we're going to see David Wright as DH a couple of times.

Seven or eight Carters and one or two Barajases.I've heard some rumblings about Barajas tiring late last year, and I think he's already playing more than the average catcher (guess I could look it up) so I'd rather 2-3 Rods, 5 Carters and maybe a Wright.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 So far, a little imbalanced line, entirely carried by Carter, but so good.DateGuyABHRRBI2B3BHRBBSOLoBHbPGiDPSBCSAVGOBPSLGOpS11-JunCarter31130010101000.333.5001.3331.83312-JunTatis30000000000000.000.000.000.00013-JunCarter31130010010000.333.3331.3331.66713-JunTatis20000000220000.000.000.000.000TotalAll112260020331000.182.250.727.977162 ProjectionAll59410810832400108016216254000.182.250.727.977

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 So far this year the AL leads NL 92-76 (792 runs to 733).And I am hearing it from the MFY fans in the office.Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Mets: 9 and 3 against the AL. That's all you have to worry about.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Say what you want about the Orioles and the Twins being weak-assed teams, the Mets ran over them and then took five of nine from much more formidable Yankees, Twins, and Tigers. That's no small thing.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I've got Ban Johnson's signature on the bottom of my shoe -- and I'm coming back for more in October.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Francouer "I was trying to add it up, like in the seventh or eighth inning," Francoeur said. "We played, pretty much, some of the top teams in the AL. I think more than anything you always hear people say, 'The American League is this, is better than (the National League).' But we know we can play with them. We beat good teams."
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 That's great Jeff, now go beat the Marlins.
