Frenchy's blow tied him with David who tied Daniel (Remember Me?) Murphy yesterday as the all-time Citi Field home run leader with...7.

That's amazing he conceded that run.
That's insulting if you think about it.

Does that count as a clutch DP for Ike because it brought in the run? I'll take it!

Dearest Frankie,

No drama, please.

Thanks,

Good question MGIM. Ron said it was a good AB by Ike. You can say that since he didn't pop-up or strikeout and got the run in, yes it was a good AB.

Gamecast shows both of the balls as in the zone. Frankie getting squeezed?

The last time Warthan came out to talk to Frankie with 2 outs and the tying run at 2d, he gave up a hit. Leave him alone.

After that text poll I mentioned earlier and H. Ramirez's moronic comment about Mets fans, I classily say--suck it, Marlins.

Watched the tail end of this just as LWYP's christening party wound down, with a host of Met fans flanking me at the bar.

There was lots of fist-pumping.

Nice day all around.
Not just a comeback from 5-0 but we pick up a game on the entire NL East

- Marlins give up a 5 run lead to Mets

- Nats lost in the 10th to Cincy after Matt Capps gives up 3 in the 9th. Nats actually score twice in their 9th to tie but can't protect it.

- Phils come back from a 3-0 deficit v San Diego but leave 14 on base and lose it in the 10th

- Braves lose to the Dodgers on a walk-off single in the 11th

NYT giving Manuel some positive press.

In the Mets 7-6 victory over the Florida Marlins on Sunday, Manuels positive outlook was cited as one of the reasons for a triumph that extended their home winning streak to eight games. Manuel has faced some withering criticism this season, but he has also provided some evidence of a job well done, and players were quick to note how Sunday offered a strong case.

I'm largely in agreement with the 'pool's assessment of Manuel's field managing decisions - too much bunting (though I'm fine with bunts in some situations), too quick of a hook, and too much Cora too early in the batting order - but I often wonder if the reason why we think he's so bad is that we don't get to see how bad other managers can be at times.

It seems Jerry Manuel has a clear doghouse and that it's a lousy place to be. I'm curious to know what effect it has on team morale. On one hand, such a situation can erode morale if a large group of players feel vulnerable to ending up there themselves. On the other hand, it can boost morale if the players feel his doghouse protects the team from being undone by players who are hurting the team's efforts.

I guess it's possible that Jerry's a manager of average ability, compared to the rest of the 2010 guys. But even if that's the case, I'd take little comfort from that. I don't want a guy who's equally as bad as everyone else. I want a smart guy who'll be able to give the Mets an edge wherever possible.

I don't expect a manger to "win" games as much as not lose them. Only a really exceptional guy like Valentine got you a win or two over the course of the year, mainly because he was not going to be out-managed by the opposition. I think its easy to beat a Jerry led team when you have the advantage of last licks.

Francoeur's HR elicited the loudest watching-TV cheer from me all year long. Very positive.

And while I don't know what the future holds, and am certainly desperate for my Carter, I don't mind begrudging Jerry a few tablepoons of credit right now for Francoeur's excellent June thus far, having stuck with him through a desperately rotten May.

Fboy and I were also whooping it up when that ball went yard.

Three cheers here on that, Jerry also took him aside and had words with him.

Is Hojo still about the team?, never see or hear from him.

Yabbut, any such credit has to be weighed against any negative ramifications of having left Francoeur in the lineup when he was doing so poorly. I don't know if it's a wash or if Jerry comes out on top. (I will concede that this very close to nitpicking).

Well, with six days of June measured against a turd of a month in May, it's certainly no wash yet, which is why I'm only giving out tablespoons of credit. Long-term benefits will only, naturally, be visible in the long term.
