batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Anyone know why Santana's not pitching tomorrow on four days rest, just like Pelfrey pitched today?
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Never mind. Today felt like Friday to me all day long.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 Quotes:"It's the most impressive sweep I've ever been a part of," Francoeur said. "To hold that kind of team to no runs over three games is unbelievable.Of course, much of this streak coincides with the crafty Dickey and Takahashi - who have allowed a total of two runs over 24 combined innings during two starts apiece - replacing bullpen-banished Oliver Perez and inconsistent-and-injured John Maine in the quintet..... Pelfrey certainly achieved that in improving to 7-0 with a 1.81 ERA and one save in 10 appearances aside from the ... six-run shelling over four innings against the Phillies on May 1 for his lone loss of the year.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I was exhausted last night and went to be early. It was fun to read this IGT this morning. Good IGT everyone.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Was able to snag a ball last night. Sitting several rows behind Mets dugout, after Werth grounded out to end the 4th, Ike flipped the ball into the stands as he headed in. It bounced off a few people's hands and landed at my feet.Picked it up and was looking at it when the guy behind me tapped on the shoulder and said 'Hey, why don't you give that to the kid?' and then pointed to his smiling, cherubic 7ish year-old. I looked at the kid - who was wearing a Phillies cap and I said 'Phillies fan? I don't think so'. Then I put it in my bag. It's on my kid's dresser this morning.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 soupcan gets a BOC nomination for that and a nomination for CPF member of the month.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 That story would've been even better if you'd been able to turn and give the ball to a kid in a Mets' cap right in front of the presumptuous Phillies phan.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I appreciate the dual nominations, thank you.One more: There was an Utley or Howard deep fly ball to center at some later point in the game when it was still 1-0 and the Phillie Phamily behind us all stood up and screamed like it was gone. It settled nicely into Pagan's glove short of the warning track and my son turned around to them and said 'This is a major-league stadium'
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Your member-of-the-month award has just been transferred to your son.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Great job by soupcan and soupcan's son. I have to tell my son that the bar for offspring wisecracks has been raised.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Hey, how far fair was Reyes' double? They didn't show a definitive angle at the game. From where I was it looked like it almost hit the line but from the reactions in the thread I'm thinking it was fair by a lot more than that.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 No help here:http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=8423255&c_id=nymYou'd think they would have considered camera locations when designing the place. We have to look at the fans in the vicinity to know if it's fair.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Edgy - "I brought crap to this IGT. I was to this IGT as Henry Blanco was to last night's victory."Henry Blanco scored last night, so he had a better night than I did.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Blanco threw out two runners last night. Everybody contributed. A IGT, like a Mets win, is a team effort.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 This is from my local newspaper. The head line was:PHILS LEAVE NEW YORK WITH NOTHINGWon't bore you with it all but I got a laugh from this: Jose Reyes, fresh from giving batting tips to the newly crowned Miss USA, was pretty at the plate.... Wonder if Reyes was playing to impress last night.*Q Todd's "We Gotta Get You A Woman"

At least a foot fair.
